The 18-hole Panther's Run at Ocean Ridge Plantation in Ocean Isle Beach, North Carolina is a public golf course that opened in 1994. Designed by Tim Cate, Panther's Run at Ocean Ridge Plantation measures 7089 yards from the longest tees and has a slope rating of 140 and a 73.7 USGA rating. The course features 4 sets of tees for different skill levels. The greens are bent and the fairways are bermuda.
Panther's Run was born to be a different kind of challenge than Lion's Paw. Golf course designer Tim Cate has unleashed this cat to prowl along the edge of a natural preserve and continually tests your ability to stay out of, or hit over, the surrounding marsh land. Wide fairways that twist and turn with a variety of elevations, plus scenic water features blend perfectly.
The front nine picks its way through hardwood forest while the back nine is more open. The course is laid out along the edge of a natural preserve and tests golfers' ability to negotiate the surrounding marsh land and water. The fairways twist and turn and show a variety of elevations, as much as 60 feet in fact.

Pretty good conditions for winter
The course had a nice layout, set in a lovely golf community. There were about 5 greens that need some attention and the cart paths were in desperate need of repair. The staff was very friendly and I will definitely play it again.

Panther
Front nine greens were very good but back nine had many weeds effecting putting. Staff was great!

Great Time
My family had a great time on the course. Course was in great condition for the time of year. Enjoy it very much so. Greens rolled nice other than the few bumpy spots. But that’s to be expected at this time. Recommend to all people looking for a nice peaceful round.

Greens looked bad but rolled great
I really enjoyed this course and will play it again when I return in April.
Thank you for the nice review. The TifEagle bermuda on the greens is transitioning into dormancy for the winter and always looks a little "splotchy" during this period. But you are correct, they putt very well. We will be applying a pigment to smooth out the color until the grass breaks dormancy in the spring and returns to its natural lush green color. We look forward to seeing you in April!

Greens problem
We were looking at property in the community and decided to try out the Panthers Run course.
Overall many of the greens look like worn out carpet, threadbare.
The tee box’s and fairways were in goodshape.
The staff was exceptionally nice.
The cart paths could use some work.
I was expecting better considering the beauty of the community.
Panthers Run Played 9/13/21
The course was not in good shape. Fairways and greens had many bald/patchy spots. Should have been a $25 round.
Amazing neighborhood but terrible course condition
I had not played Panther's run in about 3 years. I remembered I liked the layout. I invited some friends to play with me that had never played any of the CAT courses. I was embarrassed. I cannot believe a home owner association with high end homes would allow the courses to become in this condition. The greens on the front were almost not puttable. The back side was better but still not up to par. They need to do some serious work on the courses before I will come back. Also note the driving range balls are so old they are unhittable.

The greens on Panther's Run are still relatively new (2018) and still maturing. Most of the greens are in good shape, but there are a couple on the front side that we are addressing aggressively at this time and we expect all of the greens to be in excellent condition soon and to remain that way as we move forward. We hope you will visit us again and see our continued progress.
