What a find
Traveling from Pinehurst to Hilton Head so picked this course because it was on the way. The reviews were good, but didn't know what to expect as a "State Park" course. Could not have been happier. The track was scenic, fun to play, and in fantastic shape. If I was ever in the area again, I would play this course in a heartbeat.
Hidden Gem
Traveled from Charlotte for 90 minutes well worth the ride .Great layout and staff ,definitely going back .
Liquid Sunshine
Played in a steady misty drizzle. The course played long without any roll. Tee boxes, Fairways, and Greens held up beautifully. Shot well over my handicap and loved every minute!
Highly recommend
Great layout and extremely well maintained. Tee boxes, fairways and greens are in great playing conditions.
One of my Favorite Courses
Always enjoy playing at Cheraw State Park. Have played here many times over the past 3 years. Course is usually in excellent condition, and was again this time. Only complaint regarding conditions, is the bunkers sometimes flood. Other than that, it's always been great.
Friendly, professional staff, and a great value!
Awesome
This course was unbelievably well kept. From the clubhouse, driving range and putting green to every single hole. Very nice with incredible value. Will certainly return.
Wonderful experience, will like to play again.
The course has been taken care by well maintenance . It is in nearly perfect shape with many beautiful views of the lake.. Green is smooth and little bit fast. Staffs are friendly and professional. My wife and I have a great day playing there. I like to recommend to everyone.
MAZING COURSE AND STAFF
Got there right after s tournament. Pretty much had the course to ourselves. The gentleman behind the counter control have been nice. Gotta play this course.
Great layout, but greens were not so good
Had played here once before.....a year ago....and the course was wet, but the greens were really good and the layout is superb. This time....on Father's Day....the course was still a little wet from rain two days earlier, but tees and fairways are in fine condition. However the greens were bumpy and thin and slow....just disappointing since they are hybrid bermuda and should be thriving this time of the year. A local said that they had aerated 4 days earlier...which explains it....and I hope they recover. But just bad timing on my part. Wish the GolfNow posting would have indicated recent aeration....I would have passed on the 1 hour drive to get there and gone some other time. Overall beautiful parkland course...lovely trees, some water/lakes, big bunkers (albeit some had standing water) and no homes or OOB.
Will be back...but will call first to see about conditions. Great value when greens are in better shape.
Good Course
The course layout is good and the views are great. My only complaint was they had just punched and sanded the greens. They made no mention of this prior to our Father’s Day round. The putts didn’t roll true and it made the greens unputtable. Other than that, the course was great.
Best kept gem of a course
Only issue I have is that I spent more using Golfnow, than they were charging walk ups, they were charging $25, I paid $27 plus Golfnow fee
