Excellent greens
This course has excellent greens, an excellent layout at an excellent price. I would play here every week if I lived closer. Today was CPO due to the recent rains and the fairways were sloppy in some areas, but that is not the fault of management. Don't miss an opportunity to play here. It never seems to be busy on weekdays when I play.
Best course in South Carolina
I’ve played Cheraw State park several times and it never disappoints.
Excellent greens and value
For a state park course, this should be near the top of the list. Excellent greens and fairways and layout. Lots of pine trees and needles. This time of year the greens had a lot of debris, but overall conditions were excellent. For the price, it can't be beat. A long ride from home, but a must play a couple of times per year. A couple holes had nice lakewater views. Bunkers need some more sand, a work in progress.
Stars
They have been working on the bunkers and much improved but not there yet. This is one of my favorite courses. Good value for money compared to Pinehurst.
Awesome experience
Have heard about how good this course was for several years and finally made the drive to check it out. Was everything I had heard and more. Extremely friendly guy in the pro shop and the course was in great shape and had some really unique holes to make things interesting. Will definitely make the trip again.

Great day of golf…meet and played with a new friend…course is in great condition except some bunkers need sand….always enjoy this course
Only bunkers holding it back
Great value. Nice layout and course conditions. Greens are excellent. Bunkers are atrocious. I hear they are addressing this, hopefully soon. Don’t hit it into the dried mud and concrete and you’ll have a great time. Staff and clubhouse are outstanding.
Great Course
This is an extremly nice course for the price. From Tee box to green, the course is well maintained. Grass in the fairways always posh. The rough on edges of fairway is usually well maintained, not too difficult to find ball if it is just off fairway. Greens roll very true and at the time of this post are 98% intact, with no rough or bare spots. Only reason issues with this course are that quite a few sand bunkers hold water for days after significant rain, and some are little more than hardpan. Extremely nice practice areas well maintained. For the price, this is a 4.7 / 5 star all day long.

Great course with no homes on the fairways. Course in very good condition with some bunker work needed.
Slow play
The course was in amazing shape as always, me and my brother try to play here as much as possible. But the pace of play was horrible. Our tee time was at 9:56 and and we didn’t tee off until 10:25 because there was two groups in front of us. We decided to leave after 9 because of pace of play. The course and ranger needs to do better
Great condition
The layout is great and most of the course is in great condition. Bunkers are not good. The course has redone some , but there is a lot of really unplayable bunkers. Still-,the rest of the course is so good I am okay with that. Greens were smooth and pretty fast.
Nice course!
Easily the best golf course I’ve played for the money. I will be back with others to enjoy the same. Greens, tees, fairways, all in great shape. Sand is thick and takes getting used to. Staff is great, but thin, at a very nicely cared for club. Nice range, chipping, and putting practice. Easily the best value for the money. Also, awesome views over the lake at strategic locations.
