Pleasant surprize
Wonderful course that has a great layout which is both challenging and fun to play. The course is in great shape, the staff that we enteacted with were super friendly, and the pace of play was very good. We play a lot of different courses each week and this was our first time here, but it was a welcomed surprise....we will certainly play it again!
Great Round of Golf!!!
The actual round of golf was wonderful. Good practice facilities and the course was excellent. The grass on the tee boxes were a bit long but nothing that should affect your game. The fairways were amazing. The greens were cut a little too short which made them run fast but all the greens were even and had no dirt patches which is usually the case with greens cut that short. Everyone here takes so much pride in the this course because every worker asked how the greens were and apologized for them though they were very playable.
I think my interaction with the members and workers were better than the actual round of golf itself. It was my first time playing there and I felt at home. Members came up and introduced themselves as did groundskeepers on the course. Let me add that I am African-American. Too many negative stories are always being told on the internet so I wanted to share this positive experience.
Greenwood Country Club is an excellent course to play for golfers of all levels. The members and staff make you feel at home and I will play this course from now on when I visit the area.
Nice course
The course layout is like no other I have played. Very intricate design and player friendly. The greens have not grown in yet so they were a little rough but putted consistently.
Great course
Club only offers water to guest,,bring your own snacks. Overall course is in great shape.
Stately course worth the visit
For the middle of winter, course was in very good condition. The 1927 track offers a variety of challenging hole layouts and quality greens that will test any level of golfer.
Outstanding Experience
About once a month or so we meet friends from Greenville in the Greenwood area for golf as it is about halfway between us. Have played Greenwood CC on numerous occasions over the years and have always received first class treatment. This particular trip I must say the course conditions were FANTASTIC, best I've seen them in a long long time. And along with the great customer service we received beginning with the young lady in the pro shop to the course ranger to the young man in the halfway house the entire experience was 5 stars. Great job to all, can't wait to return. Be aware though, thought is was odd they would not accept cash at the halfway house so be sure to have a cc if you want a delicious chicken salad sandwich and cold beer at the turn.
Nice course
Nice layout, great price, course is in good shape. Greens take some getting used to, there are very few straight putts. Pay attention to the grain.
Beautiful
The course is really in great shape!! Greens are beautiful. I love the tough rough! Finally a course in the area that penalized you for missing the fairways. Keep up good work.
Love the course. Wide fairways and nice greens (except #5). I had a 12:30 tee time and played as a single. Caught up to 5 some on hole #7. Would not let me played through. They said there was no where to go, because they had four groups playing.
Updated Review
This is a course I regularly play and in a past review I spoke about the hard greens. The past year the greens have become much more receptive and if you have moderate backspin you can get it close. The greens putt beautifully and true. The whole course is in great shape and well worth the money. Pace of play is great. I would recommend this course to any true golfers, hackers should probably pass this one by unless your willing to lose a couple of dozen balls!!
Great track
Good course with a solid membership of players. Well conditioned.
Private
Nice course and inexpensive through GolfNow. It is a private course and subsequently you are treated as such – a nonmember. It is a very good course for the money and in the few times I've played through the week it is not crowded. The staff could be a bit more friendly to nonmembers if they want to continue to drive revenue.
Course itself looks great compared to recent years
The course is really come a long way and looks like it will continue to improve. It really looks good. But I will tell you this. The rudeness from the man running the club house is over the top. The attidude I saw him show towards a young man who was playing here for the first time is unacceptable. This is the reason I will not be back. The disrespect wasn't shown toward me but toward another young man. The attitude reflected that this man wasn't to his standards or how a man should look and talk. He was dressed nicely and short tucked. But was repeatedly told you better tuck your shirt in better or you can't play. The man showed respect and said sir I'm sorry but it is tucked in which it was. And then he was told it would 45 dollars to play. Look the course is in good condition but it's not worth but maybe 30 a round. Greens have a microbe that's killing them trees overhanging and a tree on the middle of a fairway. The waters are smelly and nasty. I'm really disgusted tho by the attitude shown by the man in the shop. And I will not be back. Stoney point is 45 bucks. And the two course cannot be compared. The Linx at Stoney point is immaculate ppl. If you are going to spend that money make it worth it. Do not pay It play here. I use to be a member here back in the day and ended it when the place went downhill and would join again seeing the improvements made to the condition of the course. But in will not put my name on something who shows such disrespect towards a complete stranger. The starter was very polite. Very nice man and very helpful if someone needs a little help getting around the course. Sorry if these seems like a rant. Just want people to know. Have a nice day.
I wish it was closer
Great old course, I can see what it must have been in its heydey. Great layout, nice greens and more than enough challenging. I just wish it was closer to my house, I'd join.
Fun Course
Fun course to play for sure. Course was wet due to recent rains and it was one of the windiest days I've ever played golf. Greens were a 7 out of 10. Course was still dormant so it wasn't quite green. Would like to come back once it warms up a bit and during the growing season.
Nice staff and members were friendly. No halfway house on certain days during the week.
