Poor pace of play

It was a beautiful day and the golf course was full. My tee time was 1:42pm, and we did not get to tee off until 2:15pm. The front nine was slow, but speed of play seemed to improve on the back nine. Then we arrived at the last par 3 (I think it was hole 15). It is a pretty par 3 with an island green. Play came to a screeching halt, as there was four groups on that hole (one teeing off and we were the third group waiting). We finished the round at 7:30pm. A nearly 6 hour round from our scheduled tee time is not acceptable.

Slow Day in the low country

Course is user friendly with open fairways and large greens. Overall very good condition. No Ranger! Absolutely no excuse for 5 hour rounds. Waiting on every shot. All it takes is sending someone out every hour or so and telling the slow group to speed up or skip a hole. It’s too bad if you have to make one group mad to move things along. We are paying more than enough in fees that courses should be able to afford someone to ride around and keep people moving.

Highly Recommend

I played this course for the first time yesterday. I was able to get a solo round. Pace of play was great. Finished in 3 and a half hours. Coming from new York, thr quality of the course was beyond anything public in the tri state area that I've played. Staff was extremely nice and helpful. It was raining when i started my round and they offered a raincheck if it continued at any time. Highly recommend!

6/25/25 - Great course, Great time, But Greens not great...

Arrival is fairly nice with bag drop easy access. Clubhouse slightly outdated out side but very up to date once inside. Pro shop was nice with lots of good merch. Cash register fella was super nice and informative. Range ball machine working, Ice machine running, and great practice areas. Seemed like they had tee times stacked and added random people in front of us that showed up riding their own carts. Probably regulars but our tee time was for sure double booked. Started on time and pace of play stayed about the same. 5hr total round. Front nine was in great shape minus the greens(i'll get to that in a bit). Back nine not near as good shape with tee boxes lacking grass and muddy areas grassless areas mid fairway.

Clubhouse on turn had plenty of good ready to move options.

Very nice bathrooms along the way and plenty of options for water. Cart girl came by at least 3 times if not 4. Ranger passed and checked 2-3 times. Sped up a group in front of us with one quick convo.

Course Layout:

As far as course layout. Im a 16hcp. and shot 95. I left 3-5 out there for sure. Most tee box to fairways are wide open. What will get ya is not knowing your distances. Drives 160-240 are always in danger of fairway bunkers with a little water to worry about as well. I recommend a yardage book from the proshop because they are well done and give you a major leg up. Don't lay up off any tees but better drive it long to go for it on the par 5s. Pay attention to the flag placements cause i dont think there is a green under 30 deep.

Views/Scenery:

This course does not feel like a "beach course" to me. I felt like I was playing a round in the sandhills somewhere around Cheraw SC. Beautiful course but not typical for MB. Pine trees for days but well out of the way. No real inlet or marshy waters like others in the area. Lots of pine needles and pine cones with sandy waste areas leading to well kept ponds.

Greens:

The greens are not up to par with the rest of the course nor with the green fee IMO. One the front nine I took notice of a very rough cut, with burns and fringe turns. The greens were not cut to the fringe and were not circle finished. It almost appeared as if "the new guy" was mowing the greens. On the back nine it got worse. Grassless areas and sandy spots led to frustrating putts. Im no great putter but my buddy that shot 77 was ill about it for sure.

I hate to be negative about a course and I still kept this between 3-5 stars for the whole experience. I just like playing "nice" courses while I am down here and the greens let me down.

With all that being said, I will give this place a second try when its not 107*.

Rained out

The course has a driving range and practice green next to the pro shop. The course layout is decent, fairways in good shape greens a bit iffy.

The rain arrived two hours earlier than expected and our group were behind a slow moving senior group with flags on the golf cart. They never allowed our group to play through so we had to go around skipping a hole, to finish before the monsoon hit, and then they went around on the kast hole.

Our group were all out of towners and apart from the rain and slow play, enjoyed the round
