Rio is a fantastic layout and nothing like it was a couple years ago. The greens are fast and roll very pure, fairways and tee boxes are lush and the new driving range is spectacular. I will definitely be back and looking forward to eating at the new restaurant again also! Great service all around love what they’ve done with the place.
Good course
Good course for the money. Greena and fairways were up kept nicely
Pace of play
Pace of play was beyond acceptable. I understand people Want to blame snowbirds but you can’t when you schedule tee times 5 mins apart. Finished at around 5 1/2 almost 6. 70$ and the cart gps is a joke . Will not be back
The new owners are making strides in the right direction. Greens and fairways were great. Tee boxes have normal wear n tear. Also, the grilled chicken cesar wrap was on point. I will definitely be coming back at some point.
Rio Pinar
Played the back nine first and nobody in front of us , and then on the front nine the pace slowed down
Very slow pace of play
The past reviews were pretty much accurate. The positives were they've done a nice job with renovating/updating the clubhouse and restaurant, the range was open and should be real nice once the tee box area is completed, and the fox squirrels were really entertaining. However, the negatives outweighed the positives. First, the pace of play was awful as it took our foursome five hours and fifteen minutes to play. We only saw a ranger once or twice, and he didn't talk to us or do much abut the issue. The starter said that they were starting groups every five minutes for the first hour or two that morning, so the ranger probably couldn't do anything. Second, at least fifty percent of most fairways were in poor shape as they were basically dead grass and dirt. Also, the greens were I would say only average. I've played Rio Pinar maybe five times in my life, but not since 2017, and the course was definitely not in as good a shape as six years ago. It seems like the new owners should have invested their money first into the course and second into the clubhouse/restaurant, but it appears they did it in reverse. By the way, the back nine is in better shape than the front nine, and is a lot more fun to play. I brought my other three players from The Villages to try a course in the Orlando area, but they were not impressed at all. We will not return.
Evolving
As the renovation continues, in 6 months, course will be among the best courses in Orlando
Not worth the GPS carts
The course is under construction, trying to be a competition course again. It will never get there. The biggest issue if the gps carts, They make over 50% of the course unusable. You still get charged the whole cart fee though. The course conditions are not good enough to make up for it. I will not be playing this course again because of the carts and the poor management. No reason to not just go anywhere else. The price is competitive with much better course and with the only real amenity being a bottle of water, I'll play elsewhere for a much better experience.
This gem of a course is coming back!
One of my favorite courses in all of Orlando. So happy the new owners are giving the course the love and attention that need. The golf range and short game area is going to be one of a kind.
Rio Pinar
Started off on the back nine because we would have been behind 2 foursomes of ladies and I have seen them play. On the back nine there was nobody in front of us and that was great. Things got a little slower on the front nine.
I try to play here about once a month
The courses under new management and they’re doing a lot of upgrades and the conditions are very very good. Certainly worth checking out. They’ve got tight Fairways some water and old-school kind of 1950s layout but I like it. My only knock would they’ve got those governors on the cards that stop you from driving wherever you want, and some of them are ridiculously distant from anything that literally would matter
Course in excellent condition
Exceptional improvement of the course and pro shop. I would play in this course again!
