Rio Pinar
Had a 93:30 tee time but got paired up with two guys named Kevin Had a great time
Rio Pinar
Trued going off in a twosome, but was paired up with two guys named Kevin. Crazy pair but really had a great time.
Enjoyed the round as the course is a good layout, played with good folks and the weather was nice. Course conditions were average as there was little distinction between the fairways and the rough. Greens were inconsistent.
There were waiting for carts to come in to supply afternoon tee times but were giving the carts away based on when you got to the podium intsead of when you tee time was. Also a little ranger support could have resulted in improved pace of play.
Trickle Pinar
Rio, a river, runs at certain pace. Not here. Golf cart gps is the problem. You can only only ride on the fairways. Then you have to back up 30 yards, from the edge of the fairway. Show people how to turn the alert sounds off. Way too much. Not good when you have a tight course. Need the widen the breath of the cart’s ability to drive. 10 times I saw people backing their carts up. The first 9 holes. Got 13 holes in. In 4 hours. That was it. Lots of dirt piles with the appearance of work bring done. Forget the cosmetics, work on making the pace of play better. Not a good vacation course. Watching people get out of their cart, walk 40-50 yards over pine needles to whack their ball out, then walking 40-50 yards back their cart on every hole. 6,300 and 5500? That’s the choice for distances. More if you are a pro. Hale Irwin is not walking through that door, again. Lose some trees to make it more enjoyable. Didn’t come back for 4 years. Maybe another 4 years before I come back again. They were working on the range. The same as last time. Slow greens, tee boxes not level. Fairways sand on the edges. Bunkers ashtray sand, mix some dirt in with them. Good luck.
Rio Pinar
Course was in great condition no temporary greens. Although some landscaping in some areas, but not a problem.
Was super impressed with Rio Pinar! Since the new owner took over the course has greatly improved. Experienced a day with a fast pace of play, a beverage cart girl that came around several times, and great service and food in the club house. The restaurant inside was newly renovated with full bar service! Recommend checking it out if you have been in the past or have never been!
The Greens & Pace
It’s really had to start a good round because their driving range is CLOSED. It takes until the 5th hole to get warmed up. So we went somewhere else before our tee time. I’v played here a few times and I’ve overall enjoyed myself. The course has a great layout but the greens need some love they have a few cow patches around the 9th hole.
Great but definitely needs works
Loved the course and is very challenging however the pace of play is all over the place. And did not like that you could barely drive the golf cart anywhere except down the fairway, it made looking for your ball take a lot longer and slowed down pace of play
Río Pinar
I am a beginner and this course was perfect. Very entertaining and staff was super friendly and very helpful.
Still work to be done but getting there....
This was my first time back since June, the new owners are making some changes to the bunkers and greens and adding some bunkers on a few holes. The range is not operational for about another month they said due to renovations.
The fairways and greens were mostly good, but there were still a few greens that were recently sodded and a few that had some bare spots.
The new pro shop and restaurant is great!
Work in progress
I liked the layout, was a nice challenge. The golf cart is awesome, super comfortable seats, nice blue tooth speakers and has GPS.
The course is a work in progress but still in good enough shape, I'd play it again tomorrow if I lived in the area.
Staff is super friendly and the restaurant/bar looks great
Damage everywhere
Not a single hole without some form of damage. The cart boundaries are horrible...
Rio Pinar GC
The course is undergoing a lot of renovations.
I didn’t mind because it looks like it going to be even better when all that work is finished. Had a great time with my son playing 18 holes. Will go back soon. Staff is very friendly and accommodating. Keep up the great work.
Hello and we are glad you had a great time with your son playing at the new Rio Pinar. Stayed tune for all the improvements still to come!
Great Day for Golf
I cannot wait until they are done with all the upgrades. it is going to be a better course then before. Keep up the great work. All of the employees are outstanding as well.
Don thank you for your accolades about the course and staff. While we recognize the number of changes we have made presented some challenges at times, we all know it is only going to make an even better experience for all who play here at Rio!
Improving
Lot of construction still underway, should be good when done. GPS cart restrictions need to be redone. A real pain in the posterior.
Hello thank you for your comments and the course is much better and will continue to improve. We recognize that the GPS while being a great amenity with hole layouts, yardages, blue tooth, food ordering capabilities do present some restrictions. This was done in order. to keep players out of the trees and hitting roots and damaging carts. We have had a significant drop in our cart fleet being down due to repairs as well, keeping the weeds in the woods and not tracking them back onto the fairways will help us with course conditions. Hope to see you out again soon!
Coming along nicely...
They are back on all regular greens (I saw reviews about the former temp greens), but still playing from a couple of temp tees (with one located in a area where the cards are geofenced out, which is a bit silly).
An interesting layout that will definitely test your shot making. Love the bunkers, which, even with all of our recent rain were fluffy and where you could hit a proper splash shot.
Unfortunately, they will probably get the driving range back right about the beginning of winter pricing (gouge the tourists season). I will try and get back in the early summer depending on prices. Definitely worth around $50 for the round.
The locker room is nice, but didn't get the chance to try any of the other amenities this trip.
GG, thank you for the review and yes the new TrackMan range will be opening in November, greens improvements are getting better every day, so please come out and try the course again before next summer!
Not a single green was undamaged
Water damage everywhere... holes all over. Greens trash.
U,
10 inches of rain in 4 days did cause a lot of damage last week sorry you did not have a great experience, let us dry out and come play again, I know you will enjoy a better day!
Under Repair
The course is under major repairs. Once completed it should much better conditions.
