Rio Pinar
It the best time to be playing this course as they’re repairing a couple of greens on each nine. Four temporary greens is a downer. In addition some of the other greens were not in great shape and were very slow. It took us 2:15 to play the front as it was very slow in front of us. We asked to replay the front nine again as there were fewer people teeing off in The afternoon. They allowed us to reply the front and we finished it in 1 1/2 hours! They said their greens would be finished Oct 1st.
Making improvements for the good
Some of the rough needs to be cleaned out. Lost balls that should have been found other than that course is coming along nicely. I will recommend this the course to all
Don't play this course now 09/07/2023
I usually enjoy this course and play there often...new owners are doing a remodel and the conditions are bad...5 -6 pretend greens mowed into the fairways which were aeriated with holes big enough to lose your golf ball, bare dirt areas near tee boxes for some unknown reason, no beverage cart or driving range...just let them finish and things might be fine...should have closed down to do this work
Needs some maintenance
I understand they’re renovating the driving range and have a few temp greens right now, however, they need to mow the other greens and the rough some more. Greens were rolling very slow, looked like they hadn’t cut them in a while, very spongy and soft.
Mediocre
There are currently four temporary greens and the course is offering a reduced rate due to this. The tee boxes were a little beat up but not too bad, I personally found the fairways to be a little thin. The greens were slow and the holes looked chewed up and didn’t look like they had been moved in a while. My biggest grievance was actual with the nanny system GPS that constantly beeped even when riding down the middle of the fairway. It would shut down the cart and make you back out of areas without any prior warning, including the rough and even on the cartpath on hole 17. Not bad for a cheap round, but don’t expect too much.
Great Course, Great Pace of Play
Had a great time playing Rio Pinar on Labor Day. Clubhouse is just about done with renovations and looks amazing. Pace of play was great and course conditions were excellent.
Kevin at the clubhouse bar is also a superstar.
Carts are annoying
The restricted area for the carts is ridiculous, expect to walk everywhere. You can only drive on fairways and cart path. You cannot drive in the rough
Take a break from Rio
Love playing this course, but they are redoing 6 greens and the rough is in bad condition.
Work in Progress
Course is under construction. It is a challenging course, but the greens are terrible. Multiple temporary holes. Staff is awesome and knowledgeable. Restaurant and bar were not open, and no cart girl. Hopefully it will be a better experience once it is at full operations.
While there are renovations and improvements being made, it was still a very enjoyable course to play. I look forward to playing here again when the updates are all completed!
Rio Pinar Golf Course
The course was not in a playable condition due to the many renovations being implemented.
Making a come back???
We were very disappointed. They wouldn't even give us key to a cart so we could load up our clubs until 12 in the afternoon yet, they gave other people keys! All the greens were heavily covered in sand making putting almost impossible. Three of the holes didn't even have greens they had temporary greens about 50 or 60 yards before the green and you definitely could not put on them. There was no driving range open and know where to practice chipping. The old golf shop is closed and they moved it to the main building but they don't tell you where in the main building that it is. Overall we were very disappointed in the conditions. But it is obvious that they are working on things and hopefully it will be back to normal within a few months.
UCFGA
The course was undergoing some construction and some of the holes had temporary greens, which were not advertised with the price reduction for the course. The price was good but the course was in a shabby state. Some greens were temps and others were patched and others were in poor shape. Will wait to play there again.
