Ft. Belvoir (Woodlawn)
The greens in N. VA took a beating the past few months (& I don't see how some of these courses can charge $100 on weekends in good concious) so I was not expecting much at Ft. Belvoir. Well I was quite surprised that they were in good shape, not April/May shape, but good nonetheless. It's a fun course that is definitely worth playing.
Like an Army facility, this place needs order
There was no marshall on the course, and that proved to be a problem. There were multiple golfers skipping holes, causing distractions and backups. One group drove the entire length of a par 3 during our tee shots, skipping 3 holes to find an open hole. Another guy, talking on his phone, stopped 20 feet from our tee box and proceeded to talk through our tee shots. When we asked him to move on, he said, “I’m on the phone.” ... yes, we can tell. ... The course was in decent condition, though the fairway grass was a bit long. The terrible player management made it a most frustrating round.

Review of Ft Belvoir Golf Course
The course was in very good condition. All fairways were outstanding and Tee boxes. Some of the greens were a bit worn. The real challenge was getting on Ft Belvoir. I have a military ID and my son had a drivers license and passport we were both in my car and he could not get on Post( he is 29 so no longer a dependent) without going to Tulley Gate for a visitor pass. This took an extra hour since the line was so long. We just barely made our Ttime. We enjoyed playing the course but may wait til I can escort him on Post as in the past.
This facility is improving - worth playing
Played the course after overnight rain and it was in great shape. Almost nobody on the golf course, so our threesome played in just over 3 hours. I will be going back again for more rounds in the months ahead.
Some great holes for a good price
Interesting how the holes on the road are so much nicer than the ones further back. What’s that all about?
All in all a very good course, greens could use a little work but it’s August, and a good value.
