About
Pohick Bay Regional Park Golf Course in Lorton has been one of the area's most popular public courses since it opened in the early 1980s. Playing at Pohick Bay is like playing two golf courses in one, with a front nine that has long, tree-lined fairways and a hillier back nine that features a variety of doglegs and water holes. It is a definitely a shot-maker's course so be prepared to use some creativity and some thoughtful strategizing doesn’t hurt either. The constant up and down of the golf course provides uneven lies and a number of blind shots. The dramatic terrain also makes it a tough course to walk. Trees frame most of the holes, demanding accuracy but also providing a peaceful and secluded feel. Pohick Bay Regional Park Golf Course is popular amongst locals for being one of the most challenging and yet also one of the most affordable courses in the area.

Great 18 holes
Course in good shape for February. Always my “go to” course
Dynamic course
I have been playing Pohick Bay since 2004 and it’s one of the few courses of which I don’t get tired in NOVA. I love the twists and turns and ups and downs of the place. Huge elevation changes. Sharp doglegs. Blind shots. The greens are usually pretty fast and slope quite a bit. If you are above the hole with a downhill putt, you are dead on some holes. I have my best ever score on this course and also my worst. It will punish you if you are not playing well, but you can take advantage of it if you know the course and are playing well. I think it’s a course that you might like a lot or dislike a lot. Anyway, it’s one of my favorite courses in NOVA and the only courses ahead of it for me are about 2x the price or more.

Nice Course but a Wet Muddy Day
1st time playing here. The course was in pretty good shape, but it was extremely muddy and cart path only (understandably so). Pace of play was slow, but the layout was enjoyable. Not a lot of hazards but very challenging greens. All in all, a great day of golf. Traffic leaving the course on I 95 South made it for a brutal ride home.

Solid challenging course
Fun course that’s very well maintained. Don’t come here to post a PR, it’s super challenging! Staff is professional and friendly. Greens are maintained well. Rough is hit or miss

Fantastic conditions
This was my first time playing at Pohick after living in VA for the past year or so. The course conditions were great, tee boxes were nice and soft, greens rolled fast and true (hard to come by around here lately), the layout was fun and challenging at points where there were forced layups.
Pace of play was right at a 4hr round.
I’ll definitely be back here before the end of the season.
