Pohick Bay Golf Course
About
Pohick Bay Regional Park Golf Course in Lorton has been one of the area's most popular public courses since it opened in the early 1980s. Playing at Pohick Bay is like playing two golf courses in one, with a front nine that has long, tree-lined fairways and a hillier back nine that features a variety of doglegs and water holes. It is a definitely a shot-maker's course so be prepared to use some creativity and some thoughtful strategizing doesn’t hurt either. The constant up and down of the golf course provides uneven lies and a number of blind shots. The dramatic terrain also makes it a tough course to walk. Trees frame most of the holes, demanding accuracy but also providing a peaceful and secluded feel. Pohick Bay Regional Park Golf Course is popular amongst locals for being one of the most challenging and yet also one of the most affordable courses in the area.

Great Value!
Great value for the money! We played on a Sunday afternoon, with great weather and the course in pretty good shape. Would recommend Pohick Bay to anyone who needs a quick tune up before heading to a more challenging course.
Nice course, awful pace.
The front 9 is very fair and fun. The back 9 is quite a challenge with a lot of elevation changes. The course was in very good condition and the greens were consistent. The rough is a bit tougher than it looks. It took a couple shots to realize that. The pace of play was awful. Several times, we were waiting for two groups to get through a par 3 and we had to wait on all 18 tee boxes.
Greeeeeaaaaaaatttttt!!!!
It was Greeeeeaaaatttt!!!! Bring plenty of balls, but then when you try to find yours in the woods you will usually find someone else's. That's why we call it the "Pohick ball exchange".
Great course
This is one of my favorite course, the fairway and green a very good condition and I enjoy to play here every time
Improving every year
I use to work in the turf grass industry so I understand what goes into looking after a course in this area. This course has improved every year over the last 4 years. The greens are so much better, fairways have better coverage, overall so much better. One of the better value deals I can get under a 30 min drive from my house.
The course has awesome features
Course in over all great shape. Greens rolled smooth , fairways are plush.
Short but Narrow Course in great shape
Difficult course, accuracy is a must. Conditions were great especially the greens. Friendly staff, I will play here again.
Great shape
The course was in great shape and the pace of play was awesome. The only negative, the bugs. They really need to figure out away to get them under control.
It's my home course.
Always OK. Park setting that's usually in good shape. Always like being there.
Great course, Marshall Lacking
The course was great, but the marshall did not do anything to keep the pace of play. A single slow group caused a backup that left multiple groups on the teebox at a single time.
Pleasantly Surprised
The course was in great shape. Practice facilities were what I needed. Nice layout. Paid $22 as a single and was well worth it. Rained for about 30-45 minutes during the round and an employee drove around telling everyone that it was cart path only for the rest of the day.
Will be playing here more often
Course was somewhat short but fun. This is a great example of a muni that is in good condition and run well. My only complaint is we were actual told to speed up on a less than 4 hr pace of play on a Friday morning. They seem to have a lot of elderly members that play from the golds which essentially turns it into a long par 3 course for them and leads to these players being up on you constantly.
Pohick
Fairways were in great shape. Greens were aerated about 2-weeks prior, but were well on their way to being in mis-season shape. Challenging course where course management is critical. Several doglegs and hazards to negotiate. Only a few greens allowing straight in putts.
We enjoyed this round and will be going back real soon.
Good Track
This course had a challenging layout and no homes around the course. It was a quiet day on a primarily links layout. What's not to like!
Full Price During Aeration
My buddy and i booked our tee time online and when we got there we paid full price for our rounds and after playing the front nine we went in to see if we could get a raincheck. They told us no that was not possible because the course was open. So we asked since they aerated if they could discount the round and they guy told us that he was not allowed to. I was so angry I wrote an email to the G.M. while we were still on the course. It has been almost a week and I have not heard anything about any refund or discount on our next round. So I told my credit card company not to pay them the round until this is resolved.
Not worth your money
Course conditions were pitiful. Tee boxes were beat up, fairways were soggy too. We had rain the two days prior to my round, and they still had the sprinklers going. I had several balls plug in the fairway. They also had an insane amount of sand all over the greens. It was like putting in a bunker. This was my second time playing the course, and it was every bit as bad as my first experience last year. So much for second chances. I won't be playing here again.
Good value for the money!
Played a quick 18 by myself. Course was in good shape and the weather was overcast in the low 40s. Course had a few leaves in the fairways, but the greens were clear and well grown.
only nine holes
only nine the front nine was open, if i had known would have played at a different course.
