About
Pohick Bay Regional Park Golf Course in Lorton has been one of the area's most popular public courses since it opened in the early 1980s. Playing at Pohick Bay is like playing two golf courses in one, with a front nine that has long, tree-lined fairways and a hillier back nine that features a variety of doglegs and water holes. It is a definitely a shot-maker's course so be prepared to use some creativity and some thoughtful strategizing doesn’t hurt either. The constant up and down of the golf course provides uneven lies and a number of blind shots. The dramatic terrain also makes it a tough course to walk. Trees frame most of the holes, demanding accuracy but also providing a peaceful and secluded feel. Pohick Bay Regional Park Golf Course is popular amongst locals for being one of the most challenging and yet also one of the most affordable courses in the area.

Great course but gotta make shots
This course is a must play for golfers in the DMV. Theres a premium on shots as there are several tee to green with a valley in between. Also they love their dog legs.
The course conditions were very good. Having played this course over 20+ years there were times it struggled with some of the greens conditions. Right now they are lovely and receptive to shots but very firm.
It appears management is trimming back some of the over growth and improving the tees. It gives the course a “cleaner” and neater look.
This is my go to course for value and a challenge, recommending to anyone who loves the game and feels comfortable with being able to make shots.
Challenging course with elevations changes
Pohick Bay is beautifully laid out with a challenging course for golfers of all skill levels with multiple tees (4 or 5). Holes are designed with either extreme elevation changes or doglegs, flanked by wooded areas as well as strategically places bunkers and water hazards. The starter kept the groups moving towards the 1st tee and I noticed a marshall traveled throughout the course to check pace of play. A beverage cart was seen once or twice during the round; my only minor complaint was that I wish I had seen them more often. The clubhouse has a selection of burgers and hot dogs already prepared; no delays in refueling at the turn! I'm definitely returning to play here again.
Great well rounded course
Excellent course with great conditions. Definitely recommend to use the driving range as well!
Course was in maintenace and some wholes were "relocated" in the middle of the fairway, which you may guess, there was no green at all. The same for some tees. I was upset that there was no info about it and we were running up and down to confirm where was the flag

Hard but nice course
Course plays very long. Usually play from whites but that was a tough challenge here. Heavy elevation changes throughout course. Driver has to be top notch to score well
