Welcoming course
There were four in our party and heading to Myrtle Beach thought we would stop for a round. First time golfing for the season and very much enjoyed the game. Course is lined with homes so you needed to be sure where your ball was going. 9 Holes done twice. We really enjoyed the course and the people were fantastic. It is a place I would recommend our friends to stop by...and I hope we get to stop again. They even assisted us with a hotel and a great place for dinner.
Good Practice
It is a 9 holes course then you replay the 9 holes again to make it an 18 hole course. It is a good practice course for a fair price. I will play it again.
Great Staff!
My friend and I were treated like royalty by the lady in the pro shop who was very knowledgeable about the course and condtions. She was extremely welcoming to first timers at the Aquia Harbour course. that kind of customer service makes me want to go back. The value for mid day tee time was incredible for a hacker like me. Golf course afficionados may not like the variablitiy of the greens speed,
Very Cheap
Coarse was very cheap. You get what you pay for though. Staff was very friendly.
You Get What You Pay For
The best part of this round may have been the cheese steak from 'The Clubhouse' for lunch. Most of the time you couldn't tell if you were in the rough or the fairway and the greens were like shag carpet. Wasn't busy at all which is probably telling since it is owned by the home-owners association.
Underrated
This 9 hole course is well maintained. They even take care of their sand traps that many other courses neglect. With 13 tees, this course is well worth the full price at the door. I arrived at 1230 on Thursday to find the parking lot empty. The pro said that I was the first of the day. The maintenance along with the limited players will bring me back.
Off season
It wouldn't be fair to criticize based on one early February round on a cold, raw day. It's 9 holes and two sets of tee boxes, but the second set of tee boxes is different enough to make it okay. Some dramatic elevation changes. Greens very slow, but the weather has been too bad to safely mow. Probably fun come summer time. Staff very friendly and helpful.
Great coarse for beginners
This course reinforces the lessons of keeping it in the fairway. Wide open fairways elevated sections make club selection a challenge. But over all a very fun course
Hidden gem for golfers to know about
This neighborhood course is a hidden gem, an inexpensive place to play 9 - 18 holes. I equate it with a practice course. The fairways are in need of standardization but the greens are well kept, not too difficult and a few with difficult approaches. The clubhouse beverages are inexpensive and I thought the food is good. If one stays for dinner, the food can be excellent.
The course pro lives in the neighborhood and works by appointment. His "package" prices are affordable, bringing down golf lesson prices to below $50 an hour. Another hidden gem!
Pleasantly Surprised
My daughter and I had a great time and I was pleasantly surprised by the course condition, friendly customer service and reasonable pace of play for a Sunday morning round. This was my daughter's first round of golf after several trips to the driving range and we both enjoyed it very much and are looking forward to playing again soon. My only criticism of the course is that there were a few greens that had crabgrass in spots that made putting a little more challenging than it should have been.
Beautiful, quaint location with challenging uphill and downhill holes
Upon arrival you will have to stop at the gate to be greeted and obtain the parking pass necessary for all visitors. Scott will likely be in the pro shop to greet you and he is as nice as they come. Pack a lunch because the food wasn't available on Monday when I went but plenty of beverages. They are typically sold in 6 pack format with ice chest and Scott does it all! $17 for a six pack of bud light (16 oz) and an affordable tee time made this experience not only frugal but memorable. I played 18 with a member who was very nice and another 9 with another member who taught me, essentially, how to properly drive the ball. Nice members, great staff and beverage selection, challenging and long 4/5 par holes and well-kept bunkers (even after the rain!!!).
Great layout.
Lots of potential for a 9 hole course, BUT. Greens were fine BUT tee boxes and fairways were in bad shape. Need to spend some money and overhaul both. Lots of ups and downs, left and right doglegs and challenge. Could be a great course for intermediate, beginners and seniors. Even advanced players could work on their short game. Also, need better signage around the course.
Fuzzy Greens
Greens were fuzzy and with inconsistent care. Making Very slow putting and poor grain
Play here Often
Enjoy the course, especially considering the cost. Great staff.
This course is a well kept secret
The greens were great. I enjoyed to quiet and easygoing pace playing golf here. Some of the holes were challenging. That's why we play golf right!!!!
Aquia
It was a good time. Construction on hole 1 makes for a very short Par 4 with PW to the green. Other than that good course.
An Okay course
This course isn't a world beater by any stretch of the word, but it's cheap and it's only 4 miles from my house so if I want to get in a quick 9 or 18 I have no problem with this course. I will also say that this is my 4th time playing here and this is probably the best condition I've ever seen this course in so hopefully they continue to improve the course. It will never be as good as some of the nicer courses in the area but what do you expect for $25.00 or less. If you want to play an average course for a below average price this isn't a bad choice.
aquia
Course is very good for beginners. The guy at the front desk had no idea what was going on but was friendly. Overall it is a great course to play at if you want to play for cheap
this course has beautiful greens
I love the way this course is laid out. Greens are slow and allow me to work on my putting. As always, had a great time. Can't wait to get back out there.
