About
A 238-yard par 3, a 259-yard par 4, a treacherous hole called the "Train Wreck" and a five-hole stretch around a cavernous dry lake dubbed "Crater Junction" all help make the semi-private Zellwood Station Golf Club unique. Featuring hilly terrain not often seen at Florida golf courses, the George Maddox design, which opened in 1974, is a challenge. Located about 30 minutes from Orlando, Zellwood Station G.C. is known to be in good shape, especially the greens.

hills
nice course, very hilly. we had a nice time playing it not your typical lay out with hills and some blind shots. the course was in decent shape and greens were good

Fun day, cold weather, good conditions
We had a chilly day to start, windy, made it a bit uncomfortable, but it warmed up for the back nine.
The course is in good shape, greens were rolled recently, very fast and tricky going downhill. We had a 2-some in front who were taking too long, struggling to golf, driving too close to the greens. A ranger would help.

In great shape
Pleasantly surprised by the conditions of the fairways and most of the greens. A few tee boxes could use some help but otherwise in much better shape than most courses in the area.

Course Needs Some TLC
Greens are too fast for the terrain. Pace of play was seriously slow. No cart attendant for most of the day.
Restaurant was closed.
My foursome was disappointed. We have all played here before and things are not the same. Course use to be in better condition and definitely needs work. Fairways were pretty good, but all of the rough was basically hardpan.
Probably won't return for a bit.

Great layout
This course has so much potential. Quite impressed with the layout and the greens are above average. The fairways and tee decks are below average and need a lot of work. If they were in better condition this is an $75-$85 course.

Just OK....
This course just needs WATER to help the grass grow.
Fairways and greens were pretty nice, but the tee boxes and the rough were pretty much all sand and dead grass.

Zellwood is Hidden Gem of Orlando Area
First: nothing about Zellwood is glitzy, not the housing development, not the clubhouse, not the location ........but what an interesting layout of hilly terrain with abundance of hazards (water & sand traps). The fairways were great (good grasses & ball sit up ---not tight lies like other neighboring courses). Greens were lush, almost needing verticut to speed them up at little; but then again they can't be too fast or some pin-spots would be unplayable. Some greens very undulating, some big & some small, but receptive to good approach shots. The very first hole is a challenge, uphill blind t-shot; same with #10. The #5 t-ball is blind downhill (should be a bell2ring when players leave valley), but then the 2nd shot goes uphill to a tilted green .....and a big par4 (at least for this old guy). This course has short par4''s (275-300yrds), and just such great variety of holes. #9 is a bear of par5, and not just because I made DbleBogie with some poor play ........but 520yrds dogleg left around hazard & green perched up on hill made for a toughie. Thanx to GN for the Hot Deal, but I recommend this course just for the terrain, not your typical flat course of Central Fla. I gotta get back to Zellwood to redeem my score.

Drying out
Course I has dried out from the lack of any recent rain fairways and greens in fair condition .but roughs are getting quite sparse. I still hate all the blind shots. Always have to check to make sure one does not hit into the group in front. Not a bad course for the price

Play was extremely slow because of overbooking the course and no ranger to move things along. We quit 4 holes early because of the delays.

Nice course, good price
The Fairways were in really good condition, greens were fast. Nice design, lots of hills for being in the middle of residential homes.

Very good value
I thought just another double wide course. Tee boxes good , fairways excellent, greens excellent. Fairways as good as any 100.00 plus courses.. Must play to believe how nice it is. !!

Average course
If you can get a deal ($25) GolfNow try it. Green fairways and greens. A lot of blind shots and recessed waste areas in bad locations plus sloped greens made the course play alittle tough. There are better courses to play in Orlando
