Old South Golf Links

About
The 18-hole Old South Golf Links in Bluffton, S.C. is a public course that opened in 1991. Designed by Clyde Johnston, Old South Golf Links measures 6,772 yards from the longest tees and has a slope rating of 129 and a 72.4 USGA rating. The course features four sets of tees for different skill levels.
Johnston designed Old South Golf Links in keeping with the beautiful Lowcountry's natural landscape. "Old South Golf Links was designed not only to provide an enjoyable yet challenging golf game, but also to preserve the natural beauty of the land," he said. "I felt that this was an opportunity to allow the golfer to experience up close the uniqueness of the site, its natural amenities and spectacular views."
The variety of the setting from oak forest to open pasture to tidal salt marsh, provided an opportunity to vary the design elements and strategy of play.
Old South Golf Links is open to the public seven days a week. There is a clubhouse, restaurant and full-line pro shop on site.

Beautiful course on a beautiful day
Old South is in wonderful condition. It is a most interesting layout with numerous scenic holes. It led to a near perfect afternoon of golf.
Nice course..... but
We started on the back and made good time, only to make the turn and realize they’d started some groups on the front. Obviously we waited.... an apparent money grab which is too bad, cuz it’s a fun course

We regret you were held up on your round. We usually do double tees only in the heat of the summer so not sure why a group was started on #1 ahead of your turn from the back 9. Our apologies for the inconvenience.
Windy challenge
The course was in great shape. The layout provides an interesting challenge, especially with windy conditions.

The breeze often kicks up along the coastal holes. We hope you enjoyed your day of golf and appreciate the 4 star review.
Great Value. Excellent conditions
Enjoyed a wonderful afternoon. Love this course. Play it every time I'm in Hilton Head.

We are so glad to be on your "must Play" list. Thanks for the 5 stars.
Great views
Very good course; extremely good shape for a public course. Greens smooth & roll true. Fairways are tournament ready; you could play the ball down. Nice views of the wetlands abutting the Intracoastal Waterway. I would suggest this course to any player coming to Hilton Head.

We are so glad you enjoyed your round and we appreciate your great comments.
Very nice course. Enjoyable to play.
Enjoyed this course. Fun to play. In good condition. Would definitely play it again.

We hope to see you again soon. Thanks for your 4 star review.

Thanks for the 5 star review.
We keep coming back
The course was pretty wet considering the rain they had last Thursday but the course was in pretty good condition. Pace of play was slow because the group in front of us was two holes behind on the back nine. There was a ranger out earlier but as the day grew late we didn’t see him. Our round was 41/2 hrs. We like the course and it was very busy but there was no excuse for a threesome to be two holes behind. We still like the course.

We appreciate your comments and we are not sure why the group in question wasn't cautioned by the ranger to pick up the pace. We hope you'll play again in spite of one slower round experience.
Hidden delight
This was a first time visit and we were not disappointed. Although the course was extremely wet due to recent heavy rains, some areas were unplayable(not blaming the staff). The staff was polite and the price was right($36.00). The course was empty and two of us cruised 18 holes in about 2 hours and 45 minutes. The front nine was moderate but the back nine proved very challenging as the course snaked along the marsh. The ocean winds really made a couple of the holes almost unreachable as you can tell by all the balls littering the marsh area. We liked the course and the views were worth the visit. The staffs' southern hospitality sure put our northern "edginess" at ease. Kudos for a nice golf experience.

We appreciate your comments and hope you get to play again with dryer conditions.
Great shape

We appreciate the 5 star review.
Good Intro to Low Country Golf
This was the first course I played on my first visit to the low country. There are several scenic holes on the marshes with a good variety of tees to accommodate all skill levels. The main attraction of the course is that the landing areas from the white tees are wider than the other three courses I played on Hilton Head Island. Conditioning of the course was good with the exception of some uneven teeing area areas. Medium putting speed, rolled nicely. This is a good course to play for an intro to golf in this area where fairways are typically tight.

We hope you get to play Old South again and appreciate your 4 star review.
Good off island value
I always enjoy playing this course. It's protected from all of the commercial distraction. Plays into and around beautiful low country views. Really a fair track with generous fairways. I play it every year at least once.

We appreciate your 4 star review and your business every year!
Great Fun Course
I play this several time a year at least. It's always one of the best condition courses locally and the staff is great. The course is beautiful and local resident rates make this one of the best values around Beaufort county.
Thanks for your 5 star review. We hope you get to play Old South again soon.
