The 18-hole Old South Golf Links in Bluffton, S.C. is a public course that opened in 1991. Designed by Clyde Johnston, Old South Golf Links measures 6,772 yards from the longest tees and has a slope rating of 129 and a 72.4 USGA rating. The course features four sets of tees for different skill levels.

Johnston designed Old South Golf Links in keeping with the beautiful Lowcountry's natural landscape. "Old South Golf Links was designed not only to provide an enjoyable yet challenging golf game, but also to preserve the natural beauty of the land," he said. "I felt that this was an opportunity to allow the golfer to experience up close the uniqueness of the site, its natural amenities and spectacular views."

The variety of the setting from oak forest to open pasture to tidal salt marsh, provided an opportunity to vary the design elements and strategy of play.

Old South Golf Links is open to the public seven days a week. There is a clubhouse, restaurant and full-line pro shop on site.

Great track

I played dolphin club, Hilton head, national and old self. Hold self by far was my favourite golf course don’t even bother putting the dolphin.

I golfed this gem on September 16 visiting from Alberta Canada, played three rounds in the area dolphin head wouldn’t bother? Hilton head national, good track, but this by far exceeds both of them would strongly recommend this course !!

Slow greens but great layout

Greens were slow- took us 6 holes to hit it hard but course

is a ton of fun and very scenic. As a 12 handicap I played the blue tees and shot 84 so very playable.

Some overhanging trees and sharp doglegs make it

challenging and I’d love to play it again

Great Golf Experience

Old South is a hidden gem that many may miss when visiting the island as we almost did. It was the last course we played on our trip and perhaps the best was saved for last. A great layout that is all about the golf experience and not the other fluff that contributes to higher green fees. Play this course, you won't regret it.

Nice, challenging course but some info would have been nice

I enjoyed my round, nice course and staff but there was some type of green substance, fertilizer I’m guessing all over the balls and my hands were green after the first hole. It would have been nice to know what it was before play because it also took multiple hand washing to get it off. Not sure if it stained my clothes at all.
