The 18-hole Old South Golf Links in Bluffton, S.C. is a public course that opened in 1991. Designed by Clyde Johnston, Old South Golf Links measures 6,772 yards from the longest tees and has a slope rating of 129 and a 72.4 USGA rating. The course features four sets of tees for different skill levels.

Johnston designed Old South Golf Links in keeping with the beautiful Lowcountry's natural landscape. "Old South Golf Links was designed not only to provide an enjoyable yet challenging golf game, but also to preserve the natural beauty of the land," he said. "I felt that this was an opportunity to allow the golfer to experience up close the uniqueness of the site, its natural amenities and spectacular views."

The variety of the setting from oak forest to open pasture to tidal salt marsh, provided an opportunity to vary the design elements and strategy of play.

Old South Golf Links is open to the public seven days a week. There is a clubhouse, restaurant and full-line pro shop on site.

Nice Track ... Slow Greens

I love playing at Old South. Hadn't been there for a few years and was glad to see that it's still in great shape. My only gripe was/is the slowness of the putting surfaces. Very hard to adjust from most of the other Hilton Head courses I've played this week.

The Old South - A friendly Southern Welcome

We played The Old South three days after tropical storm Helene… the course was well presented and remarkably well drained given the rain that had fallen.

It’s a course that makes you think with dog legs a plenty. One or two holes ninety degree bends and double flights over water, which i would imagine would annoy some folk… but open yourself up to the challenge and just have fun..

We did.

Nash course greens were slow

I played this course many times and it was as good as shape as I remember, even though they had gone through some of the difficult weather associated with the recent hurricane.

The greens were extremely slow, which may have been associated with a ation and sanding that just hasn’t healed up yet.

We appreciate the 5 stars. Greens were aerified in August but they may have been top dressed before you played which would make them slower for a few days. We hope to see you at Old South again.

Enjoyable course off Hilton head

Old south is a fun enjoyable course in Bluffton; that’s just before you get to Hilton head.

It’s less expensive than championship courses on Hilton head at about half the price it’s very friendly to mid and high and handicappers.

The staff is super friendly. We will definitely go back.

A must play when visiting Hilton Head

Yesterday was the 3rd time I have played Old South Golf links and once again they did not disappoint. The capture was in great condition and the staff could not have been more welcoming. Can’t wait to go back and play it again!!.

Great Condition

Old South was in the best shape our group has ever seen and have probablyplayed here 20 times. Whatever they're doing, keep it up! Fairways are plush and greens were smooth, what else could you ask for. Pace of play was great, maybe everyone was watching football this Saturday, but no slow downs at all. Proshop and grill staff are excellent, no comment on starter. Definitely will return!!!

Great track

I played dolphin club, Hilton head, national and old self. Hold self by far was my favourite golf course don’t even bother putting the dolphin.

I golfed this gem on September 16 visiting from Alberta Canada, played three rounds in the area dolphin head wouldn’t bother? Hilton head national, good track, but this by far exceeds both of them would strongly recommend this course !!
