The 18-hole Old South Golf Links in Bluffton, S.C. is a public course that opened in 1991. Designed by Clyde Johnston, Old South Golf Links measures 6,772 yards from the longest tees and has a slope rating of 129 and a 72.4 USGA rating. The course features four sets of tees for different skill levels.

Johnston designed Old South Golf Links in keeping with the beautiful Lowcountry's natural landscape. "Old South Golf Links was designed not only to provide an enjoyable yet challenging golf game, but also to preserve the natural beauty of the land," he said. "I felt that this was an opportunity to allow the golfer to experience up close the uniqueness of the site, its natural amenities and spectacular views."

The variety of the setting from oak forest to open pasture to tidal salt marsh, provided an opportunity to vary the design elements and strategy of play.

Old South Golf Links is open to the public seven days a week. There is a clubhouse, restaurant and full-line pro shop on site.

Course is in great shape and has beautiful views and wildlife. One hole your tee box is an island, fairway is an island and your green is an island , very cool . A couple of holes your greens are peninsulas . Very challenging and fun ! Lots of water and marsh so bring plenty of balls if you play like me . Great time !

Forced Carries Galore!

First, after my second round on this course it's still my favorite of the HHI bunch.

With that said my wife wryly pointed out the many "forced carries" we had to navigate. Teeing off the white tees I count 12 "forced carries" over water or marsh with 2 each on 7 and 16. That's a lot!

However, I still can't get over the pristine, clean-cut fairways and greens. One may even be tempted to putt from the fairway on a few holes, like a few pros do on the tour. The bunkers and tee boxes are also in great shape.

Throw in a friendly, helpful staff, along with a great GolfPass deal and it made a day at Old South one of the most enjoyable at any course in many years!

Excellent course. Lots of target golf on the back 9

Not our first time, and won’t be our last. Fun course and friendly staff. The breakfast isn’t available until 845ish, which is something to keep in mind for early tee times.

Great layout, greens just aerated

When the greens are at their healthiest, this would be a five star for me. I played the seniors position, which probably saved me a couple of lost balls.

The staff was friendly and helpful. The pace was OK with a foursome in front, but didn’t slow us down too much. We had a foursome behind us, so it was a tight pace.

Overall definitely worth checking out. Great layout, nice views.

Real nice course - unbelievable value!

This is a real nice golf course with some great holes and vistas. I have been traveling to HH for decades and played some of the best courses in the area. The golf is great here in HH and there are better courses you can play. But the value at Old South is unbelievable! This is the nicest golf course you can play, just about anywhere, for the price. If you are in the area, put Old South Golf Links on your list of places to play.

Only One Element To Change

We had a good round. Greens were in good shape. Fairways were superb. Their bag guys are great. The starter could use some lessons on addressing groups without the gruffness of fingernails on a chalkboard.

9 holes were aerated that morning without warning. Rangers constantly coming by yet it was a slow round , possibly caused by cart path only.

Aerification was planned for 8/6 & 8/9 but unfortunately Hurricane Debby showed up those days. Our maintenance crew had to complete aerification whenever they were able. We regret Mother Nature didn't cooperate for your ryound.
