The 18-hole Old South Golf Links in Bluffton, S.C. is a public course that opened in 1991. Designed by Clyde Johnston, Old South Golf Links measures 6,772 yards from the longest tees and has a slope rating of 129 and a 72.4 USGA rating. The course features four sets of tees for different skill levels.

Johnston designed Old South Golf Links in keeping with the beautiful Lowcountry's natural landscape. "Old South Golf Links was designed not only to provide an enjoyable yet challenging golf game, but also to preserve the natural beauty of the land," he said. "I felt that this was an opportunity to allow the golfer to experience up close the uniqueness of the site, its natural amenities and spectacular views."

The variety of the setting from oak forest to open pasture to tidal salt marsh, provided an opportunity to vary the design elements and strategy of play.

Old South Golf Links is open to the public seven days a week. There is a clubhouse, restaurant and full-line pro shop on site.

Greens need attention

Everything was good except the greens need attention. We got rained out after 9 holes and attendant at bag drop was fantastic and let us put out clubs under cover in the cart barn and drive our vehicle over there so we didn’t t have soaked clubs. Again only disappointment was the greens. Everything else was great.a

Thanks for mentioning our great staff. Greens are in transition from winter grass to summer bermuda. Some years this goes smoothly and quickly but some years it does not. Measures are being taken to help the transition.

Check this course out if in the area!

Loved playing this course on an early tee time. Wasn’t too hot till the last couple holes. Stopped by here when out on the east coast trip to see family. Lovely layout, had some easy layup holes and some tricky placement ones over the marsh. Super fun! Only downside was some of the greens had some issues and patches. But still played well. Will definitely be back on the next trip!

Needs a Marshal

Great course. Beautiful scenery. Some challenging holes. Fairways and tee boxes are in great shape. Greens are marginal. Some are just sand sprayed green. They appeared to have lost the greens over the winter. The pace was horrendous though. Waited on every hole. No marshal on the course. On-cart GPS said we were 33 minutes behind at the turn.

The only downside to the course was a couple of greens, but they had the pins away from the bad spots for the most part.

I’ve been playing this course for years and it is always a good course for the money. The lay out is good, but it does help to have a little knowledge of the course.

I would recommend it for anyone for the money

Some green problems

We play this course when we come to HH . First time I have seen four or five of the greens with good sized problem patches. Tee boxes a little hard.Fairways and traps are in good condition.overall it’s a good course to play in this area.
