The Course at Wente Vineyards

What a great course if I could afford it I would play it three times a week. The entire course was in great shape from tee boxes to greens

Like most courses, enjoyment related to pace of play. On this day I was with another golfer and we were behind a foursome and we still finished in four hours. We waited maybe twice for like 2-3 minutes. Pace was fantastic. Greens rolling well and everything in really good condition. Wente usually wants $100. If you get it for under $80 it's good value. You have to be on your game here--it was crush the novice golfer.

Very slow play as they allowed a 5-some / 3 cart on. No Marshall to regulate. I really want to give them a 5-star. But due to the slow play...and allowing that group to play was a F up

The course has nice layout that and scenic. One of my favorite coursers. However I don’t think I like to play here during greens irrigation period. A few of the greens are like beaches.

I still love this course for the test of the year!

The bird speakers to protect the wine grapes was extremely annoying. Watch for harvest time. I played before and never heard the speakers.

So, to be fair, Wente is still better that 90% of the courses in the Bay Area. With that being said, since Covid ( and I hate that exuse) its not the same Wente course or service wise so manage your expectations and do your research because things are different. First of all the price increase is not substantiated in regards to the quality of the course or service it used to be. For some reason pro shop staff seem to be off. I noticed this when I played months ago and again this weekend and you will read the same in other reviews. When I checked in, no one said anything to me about range balls. Old Wente had balls on the range in troughs on the range. During covid they gave out limited balls because, well, you only could show up 30 minutes before your tee time so that made sense. Well, when I checked in 45 minutes early, I made the mistake of assuming range balls were in troughs again. So we drove all the way up to range to find people had bags of balls and the pro shop never mentioned anything, so we drove all the way back down, (4-5 minute drive) and just putted and chipped. Would of been great to know that in advance so that is why I am mentioning it now for people who come after me. Also, ordered 2 breakfast burritos. Total before tip was $26+. They came out wrong and were small, dry and not good at all. Not the food of Pre-covid Wente. The greens roll ok, but are not old Wente greens. They are recovering from some disease or something. The fairways are over-watered and mushy in quite a few places. Anyways, the course has always been pricier than other courses, but they back it up with the quality of the course, food and service. The new price of $170 is not consistent with the level of service or course conditions. Again, to be fair, its still a great course, but it is not as special a place to play as it used to be. It’s just kind of another course. Hope things change back.

The snack shack at the turn was closed and the food and drinks at the clubhouse closed at 5pm. That is insanely early as golfers would come into the 18th for the next 3 hours. I couldn’t even get a beer with my friends in the sweltering Livermore heat. Not to mention the range was closed all day.

This course is spectacular. Well maintained, fun layout, and incredivle views.

The only gripe I have which is very reasonable is to have a marshall. We got stuck behind a group who sucked and took forever which pushed the round to almost 4.5 hrs. Easily would have been under 4 without them.
