Bear Creek Golf Club is one of the courses that makes Hilton Head Island one of the country's most popular golf destinations. Rees Jones designed the course, routing the layout through majestic pines and sparkling blue lagoons. Jones kept much of the existing landscape intact, earning the golf course Audubon certification. There are five sets of tees total, with the longest stretching over 6,800 yards. It's a course that players of all skill levels can enjoy regardless of handicap. The tight, bunkered fairways are an infamous feature of the course but Bear Creek is also known for having some of the best greens on Hilton Head Island. The finishing hole is the course's signature. You'll have to navigate your way past a narrow chute of pines to reach the green, which is fronted by a large lagoon.

I’m writing this review as we wait to hit the back nine, it’s been a 2 1:2 hour front nine there are 4 groups on number 10! Pace of play is horrible! It will be at least a five hour round if we are lucky, this kind of slow play ruins golfs reputation. The course is in really nice shape but waiting on every shot ruins our game

The course needs to spread out its tee times, every 8 minutes is too close for the quality of players. We waited every shot , and it was a 3 hour first nine, at the turn we continued, hoping people would not be playing. After 15, we had enough and drove back in. It appeared that the group 5 in front of us were the problem, after one of the players relieved himself, before teeing off, there was no one on the final par 5, except this group holding everyone up. Like the course, but pace of play needs better monitoring!1

Good day at Bear Creek

The course was in very good condition for early April. Fairway lies were some of the best we played. Greens were very good but many of the reads were not what I expected. We really enjoyed our round. The only issue at all was the Marshall rushed us to play faster when we were on the exact pace we should have been for a foursome. I guess he just didn’t have anything else to say.

Nice course, little service

My wife and I spent a nice afternoon playing this course. Pace of play was an issue until the fivesome in front let us play through on the 14th hole. Staff were not the friendliest bunch and the Grill was closed before we finished our round at 7pm! I still recommend this course as it a challenging track with a great layout.

Great course- maybe better elsewhere

It’s tough in Hilton Head with so many courses to play.

We played Golden bear down the road at a similar 230pm tee time for the same price. Turf quality and overall presentation at Golden Bear much much better.

Not to say this course was bad at all but when you have a choice…

Not accommodating to people

We booked thru golf now and on that day it was poring rain and the course would not cancel our reservation bc they said course was open there was one other group of 3 on the course the entire time on top of it they closed the restrooms restaurants right after we left so when we were finished, there was no one there to be found for not use any restrooms will get a drink. The only reason why we were forced to play was because we booked through GolfNow when I called GolfNow they called the course and of course said they were open. There was nothing GolfNow could do as far as I know if the paying $170 for the two of us. What else were we gonna do? I wasn’t gonna lose the money?

Highly Disappointed

Started off with getting our tee time moved up without notification. Staff in the club house was snippy when questioned on why and was given no explanation. I was told it was my mistake even though I showed them my confirmation. Got told very rudely by the course marshal to speed up even though we finished our round in 3:52. Course had debris all over it and the bunkers were like concrete. In my opinion, this is a $60 course and won’t be going back or recommending this course due to the staff and the way their attitudes towards players.

Wet but fun

It was cart path only but with the rain that was expected. Was fun, not too challenging but still had some difficult layouts. Employees were very friendly and helpful.
