Bear Creek Golf Club is one of the courses that makes Hilton Head Island one of the country's most popular golf destinations. Rees Jones designed the course, routing the layout through majestic pines and sparkling blue lagoons. Jones kept much of the existing landscape intact, earning the golf course Audubon certification. There are five sets of tees total, with the longest stretching over 6,800 yards. It's a course that players of all skill levels can enjoy regardless of handicap. The tight, bunkered fairways are an infamous feature of the course but Bear Creek is also known for having some of the best greens on Hilton Head Island. The finishing hole is the course's signature. You'll have to navigate your way past a narrow chute of pines to reach the green, which is fronted by a large lagoon.

Very Nice Course

The staff in the pro shop and the clubhouse were super friendly. The pace of play was great. Greens were awesome. Fairways aren't quite awake yet. This was an enjoyable course to play. Will definitely come back here again. Loved the scenery, especially all the trees with the Spanish Moss.

Poor Condition

Unfortunately tons of rain and course took a beating. Heard good things about Beat Creek but it was rough at best. Very slow due to cart path only didn’t help spending more time than wanted here. Nice layout.

Mediocre food

Course was cart path only due to consecutive days of rain. Staff was super friendly. Ordered a hot dog before starting the back nine which they kindly offered to deliver. The guy dropped it off and left. When I opened my box the hot dog looked like it was left over from the dah before.

Great Staff & course

The staff was one of the most friendly golf staffs we've experienced. Course was really, really wet but greens in great shape. Hardly saw any other groups on the course, likely due to wet conditions & CPO. Will go again

Nice layout but

Challenging and scenic layout but course conditions were terrible. No fairway grass and I almost was thrown out of the cart hitting a pothole in the cart path. Friendly staff.

Course

Bear Creek has a great layout. As far as condition... the greens are nice, however the fairways have very little grass due to time of year..

Great design showing its age.

Nice doglegs, deep bunkers, limited forced carries but water often in play.

Overall time golfing

Very friendly staff, cheap food and $20 for a bucket of six beers, greens run fast but well taken care of,, very fair but tough Reese Jones layout, definitely will recommend to anyone who wants to be challenged.

Needs help on "non playing" surfaces

Have played his course many times over the years, so have seen it when it was in great shape. Due to too many golf courses, etc., it has fallen into an "okay" course. Tees fine, greens very good. Fairways are not well taken care of (yes, it is winter), and the rough and areas around greens are in great need of repair. Cart paths destroyed/non-existent/bumpy at best. Still enjoy playing it, but having seen it in better condition makes it a little sad. Also the ball doesn't go as far as it used to. OH, maybe that's because i'm now 76. Ouch.

nice greens

I have no complaints. it's a flat course like almost every other one at HHI. I thought the greens were excellent. Lots of doglegs and not much room to miss!
