Bear Creek Golf Club is one of the courses that makes Hilton Head Island one of the country's most popular golf destinations. Rees Jones designed the course, routing the layout through majestic pines and sparkling blue lagoons. Jones kept much of the existing landscape intact, earning the golf course Audubon certification. There are five sets of tees total, with the longest stretching over 6,800 yards. It's a course that players of all skill levels can enjoy regardless of handicap. The tight, bunkered fairways are an infamous feature of the course but Bear Creek is also known for having some of the best greens on Hilton Head Island. The finishing hole is the course's signature. You'll have to navigate your way past a narrow chute of pines to reach the green, which is fronted by a large lagoon.

Nice course, good challenge

Nice layout which was challenging without being too much. Club house and range were a bit spartan, but overall seemed good value for money.

Waste of time and money

This place is a joke when it comes to management! They lure people to their course with coupons and then treat them like second-class citizens. The members do not want you there and will complain so management will come and make you let members play through. Such a disappointment after paying for 18 holes and only playing 10 of those! We will not be back!

I like this place

Was $90 per player, included lunch and a drink...nice tuna sandwich. The course was in great shape, I loved the layout, with honest hazards and not tricked up. Staff was friendly, but understaffed. I'm considering going here again later in the week.

Not in great shape and slow play

The course was not in great shape and the pro shop messed up our tee time. Tee time was 9:40 per golf now but pro shop had us down for 9:32. Starter allowed 2 very slow groups clog up the course. Not going back.

Have been playing golf on HHI for 30 years and this is by far the worst experience! Course is OK, but mismanaged, unfriendly, rude members that do not want you on their course! This is why they offer coupons offering lunch and balls because they can’t keep people coming back! Lunch was fine but would have preferred a water cart coming by and someone to keep play moving without being rude and disrespectful to seniors who have paid good money to play! I would not recommend! Too many other great courses with better management and friendly staff than to waste your time and money at this place! Don’t waste your time and money!

With the quality of the other courses in Hilton head, this one is not worth your time or money. Staff were rude, members weren’t friendly either, Pro shop was empty and under construction. In the middle of nowhere, and they lure you in with coupons. Skip it.

It’s not a bad course, just overpriced for its quality/ conditions

I played Bear Creek today after playing other HHI courses this week. The course is ok, but generally comparable to most municipal courses and probably should cost about $45-50, not $99 for the lower quality conditions of its club house, nasty on course bathrooms, and generally average level course conditions. It’s not a bad course, just over priced for what you get. I played Port Royal Robbers Row the day before, for $69 and the course conditions, club house, amenities were in a different league but it was cheaper.

Good layout, greens a little off.

We had a good day here, fairways and greens mostly good, layout was fine and we had good match going. Staff very friendly and 19th hole was good. Nice range. Fees very reasonable. Would return. As most other courses down here, they could use some rain.

Round even included Lunch

Overall I really liked this course. The fairways are a little thin in areas and there is what looks like a Poa Annua problem (weeds) on some of the greens. But, the greens rolled true and were above average speed. The staff was very friendly and the pace of play was not bad. There was a men's league in front of us and they moved along well. We played in just under 4 hours. The bonus was the LUNCH was included with the round.....including one beer (if that is your pleasure). The food was great and fresh cooked or made.....not some box lunch. Not sure if lunch is always included, but it sure was nice. I would play here again and as the grasses grow in, the fairways should get better.

Nice Track

A very nice layout with water on several holes. Wide fairways but trees make it challenging. Very good value as it includes a very nice sandwich and drink at the turn
