About
Bear Creek Golf Club is one of the courses that makes Hilton Head Island one of the country's most popular golf destinations. Rees Jones designed the course, routing the layout through majestic pines and sparkling blue lagoons. Jones kept much of the existing landscape intact, earning the golf course Audubon certification. There are five sets of tees total, with the longest stretching over 6,800 yards. It's a course that players of all skill levels can enjoy regardless of handicap. The tight, bunkered fairways are an infamous feature of the course but Bear Creek is also known for having some of the best greens on Hilton Head Island. The finishing hole is the course's signature. You'll have to navigate your way past a narrow chute of pines to reach the green, which is fronted by a large lagoon.

Golfer Reviews
Great timei
Checkin was easy, staff was friendly, the course was in very good shape and the layout is challenging but fair.
Shrimp poboy at the end was awesome.
First time playing
The course was in great shape. The staff very accommodating. The price was incredible - $55.00/person which included a fabulous lunch and a tap beer. Will definitely return in the future.
Good Value but Amenities Absolutely need Updating
Nice folks. Got on the course right away. Used rental clubs that were OK. Nice and efficient cart guy.
The course was in pretty good shape. Fairways were mostly in good condition. Needed some work. Greens were fast but mostly smooth. Needed clearing of leaves, etc., but overall quite good. Pace was a little slowed by walker in front but good enough.
Clubhouse was ole and needs to be updated. Restrooms were really bad and need completely new fixtures throughout. I am surprised that they let it get this bad. Roads into and out of the clubhouse are in terrible disrepair.
While I enjoyed paying the low price ($40 for nine) I would have been happy to pay more for an improved facility. I may play this course again but I would NOT be proud to show this clubhouse off to my friends.
Good experience
Course was in good shape. Cart paths were terrible. Greens were very good as were the fairways.
Good deal for the price
We got an afternoon hot deal for around $40 a person and would recommend for that price. On the 4th hole a twosome came up and asked us if they could play the hole real quick because it was their last hole from a morning tournament... we let them play the hole but very strange occurrence, set us back 20 min. pace was slow all day. Good conditions overall, would play again.
Overall review
Bear Creek Is a challenging course that has a good layout and is fun to play. The overall condition of the course
Is very good with the exception of the traps that need some work after all the rain here.
Nice course.
Wife and I played Bear Creek for our first time. For years we have played the usual courses at HHI when we are there. Since it was our first time we didn’t know what to expect. The first thing we committed on was a lack of signage as you pull in as the parking and club house are some what hidden. The cart building is what you see and a club drop. So we parked the car and walked up to the cart house. The gentleman working there wasn’t exactly friendly but we figured out where to go. The staff at the club house made up in friendly from the cart person. The club house is well worn and in need of some work. We hit some balls prior to playing and the range was nice. Once we started the course was nice. We had a lot of rain over the week so there were two holes cart path only and you had to be careful on some holes. The greens were in great shape. We would play here again. The course was a great value.
Way up on Bear Creek
Booked a mid afternoon round and they were very particular about not letting us go off before our time.(watering, I think). We had the course to ourselves and it was wonderful. Nice greens. Nice layout. Looks narrow, but actually played very fairly. Saw a few gators. I would definitely recommend.
Will play again
Good value for area as a nice lunch is included. Though an unremarkable layout, the tee boxes fairways and greens are all in good shape and well maintained. We will be back.
Great course especially for the money
Great prices for a pretty nice course. It would be nice if cart paths were paved and there were a few bad grass areas on a few greens we played.
