About
Bear Creek Golf Club is one of the courses that makes Hilton Head Island one of the country's most popular golf destinations. Rees Jones designed the course, routing the layout through majestic pines and sparkling blue lagoons. Jones kept much of the existing landscape intact, earning the golf course Audubon certification. There are five sets of tees total, with the longest stretching over 6,800 yards. It's a course that players of all skill levels can enjoy regardless of handicap. The tight, bunkered fairways are an infamous feature of the course but Bear Creek is also known for having some of the best greens on Hilton Head Island. The finishing hole is the course's signature. You'll have to navigate your way past a narrow chute of pines to reach the green, which is fronted by a large lagoon.

Golfer Reviews
Great course
We had a foursome play. The course was in great shape and greens especially in good condition. The course was very busy but the pace was good.
Great value
We paid 53 US which included range balls, cart, and lunch with beer. Course was in great shape. Greens were fast and in great shape. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Would definitely recommend this course if near Hilton Head Isle.
Not so friendly.
Staff did not seem overly friendly. Check slow, and “all inclusive that it states it indicates in the Hilton Head Island brochure is not really true to Golf Now Hot Deal players. The book also says all all inclusive “really means it” but that’s not true to Golf Now . I witnessed another player who said he wanted it was refused by an employee because he did not count in spite of what the book spelled out . The employee was not nice about it and no signs anywhere indicated that was course policy in spite of there advertising.
Excellent value
Played Sunday afternoon 10/20/19. We arrived almost an hour early, and even though the course was well booked, the starter was able to get us off. The course was in great shape, a pleasant surprise after the huge amount of rain that fell the day before. The sand traps were in pretty bad shape, as expected from previous reviews. The fairways were extremely well kept and the greens were in excellent shape. They rolled true and fast. Our tee time was 2:04 so we only paid $39.00 each - an EXCELLENT value for Hilton Head ! Although I felt the course played short (from the whites), it was very challenging. You must hit the ball straight, or else you’ll be taking penalties. The views of the landscape and surroundings are great and the staff couldn’t be more friendly. I would highly recommend this course to all levels of ability and can’t wait to play again. Thank you Bear Creek for a very enjoyable afternoon !!!
Ohio buddy
Buddy from Ohio is here for the week and we decided to play this course. Good time. Awesome shot over the pond to within six feet of the flag on 18, missed the birdie putt and ended up with a par. I’m good with that on this tough finishing hole.
Great time!
We had a great time. The course was not too challenging but it was fun.
Nice Course for all Levels
Course was beautiful and well maintained. Staff were friendly. Tees off a few minutes early and never saw anyone in front or behind. Very relaxing.
Good golf
Always good golf. Staff is friendly course is tough but fairways are good and greens are very good. Can almost always drive to the ball making pace of play excellent
Great greens
A great course to play everyday. Staff is friendly always calls players by their name. Food is very good. And atmosphere is pleasant in grill. Without a doubt it is best value on the island
Not worth it
The bunkers have little to no sand. The cart paths are so horrible nobody uses them! When we commented to the manager, a young man calling himself the manager, he said, "Well, you don't have to come back if you don't like it.!" Really? Not a great way to run a business. The MEMBERS of that club are greeted with pleasantries in the pro shop, but the rest of us barely get a word of welcome. There are many times when there are no tees, there are never towels in the cart, sometimes they have no golf carts when we show up, three times the cart battery went dead out on the course, once we had a flat tire, so no wonder they cannot keep staff or increase membership. The grill is great, the fairways are fine, greens are very nice, but everything else makes it difficult to enjoy the experience. Both "managers" are very young, one male one female, and have zero business sense, seldom smile, and just don't care if your experience is positive. This is the least expensive golf course on the Island, but you get what you pay for! Don't bother.
The heading of your review is " not worth it" yet you apparently have played it numerous times. I rely on these reviews in making course choices when travelling. so please give accurate reviews. Everyone else seems to have good experiences.
This guy must have played several times. He must really like the green fee. Of course he could play sea pines for 180 dollars. Maybe they will give him a hug
