Bear Creek Golf Club
About
Bear Creek Golf Club is one of the courses that makes Hilton Head Island one of the country's most popular golf destinations. Rees Jones designed the course, routing the layout through majestic pines and sparkling blue lagoons. Jones kept much of the existing landscape intact, earning the golf course Audubon certification. There are five sets of tees total, with the longest stretching over 6,800 yards. It's a course that players of all skill levels can enjoy regardless of handicap. The tight, bunkered fairways are an infamous feature of the course but Bear Creek is also known for having some of the best greens on Hilton Head Island. The finishing hole is the course's signature. You'll have to navigate your way past a narrow chute of pines to reach the green, which is fronted by a large lagoon.

18th hole Photo submitted by Sammy369 on 02/09/2015
Very good
Good layout, good condition, and there was a genuine effort to make us feel welcome.
Bear 2018
Greens were good, 97% of cart paths were dirt, most sand traps had a top layer of sand then packed sand below, not good. Our 4some was told to pick up the pace while a 3some was behind us and we were just behind another 4some. We will NOT be back.
Great value
Beautiful course. Good shape. Greens are still recovering a little from aeration but still rolled well. Fairways were in good shape other than a rough patch here ad there. Compared to area courses, great $ value. The one thing I wished I had was more yardage detail and hole detail (water, doglegs, distance...etc). They do not have GPS on the carts and the score cards do not have picture of the holes. Bunkers and doglegs come into play off the tee box so be sure to bring a range finder. The lack of those amenities might be the reason for the lower price per round.
Too many dog legs!
Enjoyed our round of golf. Lots of water hazards and dog legs made the course quite difficult however this didn’t spoil our enjoyment.

Greens had been punched, but were very playable.
Rest of course was in great condition.
Staff was friendly as always.
We'll be back again!
Good condition but monotonous layout
Course was in very good condition. The greens were extremely fast (starter said they were rolling a 12) and tough to read, but weren't overly firm for their speed. Only real complaint about the course is the layout, which consists of an annoying number of doglegs. Without counting exactly, it seems like over half the holes are at least a partial dogleg. Other than that, the course is generally enjoyable and the practice facility is very nice.
Outstanding 5 Stars
Played it for the first time and this is high quality golf. Course is in fantastic shape. Greens are firm and fast. Staff is awesome. Even included lunch and a beer. Food was as good as any place on the Island. Will return.
Course in great shape, greens quick but manageable and consistent. Heavy sand in bunkers, difficult to hit blast shot.
Nice layout, hard greens and friendly gentleman in pro shop
Though we played this course on a very wet morning it was an enjoyable round of golf. The layout really kept us interested in the round with several dogs legs, some forced carries and some very hard greens. The gentleman in the pro shop could not have been nicer but I will say the car guy didn’t seem to want to be there. Even after a night of rain though I will say that it was still hard to hold the greens. The tee boxes and fairways were in excellent condition, even after soaking rain all day the day before. I would recommend this course as one of your stops maybe on a second trip to Hilton Head Island after you play the big boy courses on the island.
Greens firm and in really good shape. Will play again.
Bear Creek 2nd Time!
Excellent condition! This was the second time I played this course and it is a great course to play!
Great course
First time playing this course, but definitely not the last we are putting this Rees Jones designed course in the rotation. Fairways and greens are in great shape. A fun test of skill for any handicap. The staff were very friendly and helpful.
great course on island
GPS took me to an empty lot but once I found and played it was a treat. Traps and doglegs give a challenging yet enjoyable layout for avg golfer like me. Greens and fairways were in terrific shape and rolled true. Staff was super friendly and the restaurant food was superb; gave us a great day. Will play again.
Excellent golf course
Great conditions again as this ends my golfing week in Hilton Head. Tee boxes, faiways and greens were great. I got a deal that got me golf, anything on the menu for lunch and a beer. Good deal. Played with a very nice threesome as well. Made it a totally enjoyable experience.

Always enjoy playing at Bear Creek. This time the fairways have been the best we've played on this trip to HHI.
Emily and staff are always friendly and accommodating
They have good food too!.
