Dobson is the place to be
As always most friendly staff in the valley. Enjoy the course and facilities. Great place to play and practice
Fantastic Day!
I’m not sure if our round was totally representative of a typical round of golf because we were the first group of the day going out and the course had just reopened from fall over seeding. That being said, the course was as in good of shape as ANY course I’ve played. We finished,on a cart path only day, in a little over 3.5 hours for a group of 15-18 handicaps. I think the course is perfect for a challenging round for someone with that kind of handicap. We are in the restaurant and had a thoroughly enjoyable lunch. The staff is professional and courteous without being overbearing or pretentious. I think the greens fee represented a great value for the level of detail and quality put into the course.
Why state pace of play when no pace of play happens
Huge joke about this place. Who every doesnt inform anyone its cart path only until we Tee off, then tee us off 8 mins late, then put people who are walking in front of 3 , 4 somes of cart players, then dont allow us to skip to finish our 18 while the walkers have no one in sight in front of them. Player assistant (older man) tried to talk down to us like we were his grand children, then started and 10 min conversation with the group that is holding everyone back and hold them off from going. What a joke never going again. Sad cause we heard great things. Only finished 14 holes after paying over 100 for 18 and no compensation.
Fun course
Grass is looking good and pace will be much better when its off cart path. Got really windy, cold and rainy, was told if it was bad we could get rain check on the back nine but club house wouldn't do it because we book on golf now which was a bummer but it is what it is.
City course
Excellent city course….very well run and a decent value
Same old dependable Dobson (plus)
Dobson doesn't suit my eye generally but as I have aged it has gradually grown on me. I have played the course every year since the late 90s and it was in the best shape I have seen it in. Still a few rough edges and a populace which refuses to repair its damage while playing, but in real good shape. All shop and outside service personnel were wonderful and the pace was 4:40 which was good for cart path only. .Cart girl was lovely and attentive. Reopen the halfway house on #11/15,16 and a bit more sand on the beach and it's a 5. Up to a 4.5. for a former detractor.
A popular course
I have played here almost 10 times over the past 20 years, and witnessed the improvements in the club amenities. It's a fun place to play with friends. It's fairly easy course, but you need to dodge some driving range balls in a couple of holes.
DRGC still recovering from overseeding
Course was still Cart Path Only (CPO), thus many walkers which optimized time- to-ball, though cart riders frequently consumed more time (round was 4:40). Tee boxes were fair, as were fairways, but clean-and-place was routinely required. Greens were still a little slow, but give it another two weeks and that will improve. Value was good. Remember to bring a colored ball for Holes 9 and 10, which border the driving range, which litters white range balls on those holes. Sand traps were damp and firm, complicating, at times, a good shot out of the hazard. Rangers were cordial, but with CPO conditions, not much was possible for them to improve pace-of-play.
Nice Course
Dobson Ranch is a nice wide open course. It is in pretty good early fall condition. Wide fairways but still hard to hit for some of us! Greens in good condition but a bit slow but they will speed up. This is a very walkable course. Speed of play was not good. People on carts that we could see constantly hit there ball at least 100 yds away from the cart path. They may as well have walked. This really slowed down the pace. But I know it should be better once the cart path only rule is off. Overall a nice course. Golf shop staff, starter and player assistant very friendly. Lots of range balls on 10th fairway. Wouldn’t hurt to have someone pick those up once or twice a day. Use a coloured ball on 10! Reasonable green fee for early fall
Great course
Course was cart path only due to over seeding but in great shape. Would play again. Hope rates don’t skyrocket.
Nice Muni
Course was in great shape. Play was a little slow due to cart path only rules.
Really enjoyed my first round there. Great staff and very friendly.
Good conditions for the time of year
The course was in okay condition considering the time of year. The driving range is excellent with lots of targets and monitors, would be good to come back just to practice. The downside is the 10th hole runs parallel to the range, no fence to protect you on the 10th fairway and the fairway is littered with dozens of range balls, makes it nearly impossible to find your ball when it lands amongst the range ones. Considering liability issues you would think a fence would be mandatory on an adjacent fairway at the very least.
Dobson Ranch never disappoints. My wife and I played his course at least once a week and visit the driving range often. The course is always well kept and the staff there is amazing. We will continue to visit this golf course while we live in Arizona. Thank you so much.
