Sunbird Golf Resort

About
The course at the Sunbird Golf Resort is a desert-style course that offers three sets of tee boxes to accommodate most skill levels. This executive length golf course has a country club-type atmosphere and offers a good round of golf. The greens are medium sized with some that are multi-tiered and narrow fairways. Bunkers and trees are also present on the course, adding some challenge since they can greatly affect shots. Water hazards also come into play on a few holes. In addition to the executive course at Sunbird Golf Resort, the facility also offers a putting area and chipping green as well as a fully stocked pro shop.

Nice short course
The course is in good condition.
We need a ranger and beverage cart when the course is packed. It took over 4 hours to complete our round and it should only take 3.
Fast pace course
Good course to practice your irons. Not very many long drives.
Great fun course
Course is great for a quick round, only wish the cafe was open earlier to accommodate early tee times....
Not A Good Day for Sunbird
I have been playing this course for years, summer, winter, etc. I have never written a negative review, because I had no reason to. That changed today. Staff in the Pro Shop is always friendly, today it was Rick. Course is in bout the shape you would expect for mid-summer. There were some holes that had quite a bit of standing water due to the big storm a few days ago. First hole, after hitting my approach shot, I went to fill the divot and both bottles were empty, no sand. This is actually a repeating issue. When I made the turn I mentioned it to the Pro Shop. Also, there were quite a few maintenance workers cutting grass, blowing grass, etc. I understand that, but there was a couple guys who followed me on every hole beginning on 4. They wouldn't even shut off their engines when I tried to tee off, hit an iron, putt, whatever. Usually maintenance is much more courteous. They were blowing dust everywhere and it was so loud I finally got fed up on hole 15 after putting out and went over to one and asked him "What do I have to do to get away from you guys". No yelling, a simple question, as I told him I had to deal with it on every hole. His response? I quote, "Find another course!" I was dumbfounded and walked away. As I did, I heard him call me a "Jagoff". Really Sunbird?? Do you want me to "Go to another course" going forward, Sunbird? No problem!
SLOW greens and OK conditions.
Saying the greens were slow would be an understatement. They were in decent condition, just in need of attention. Fairways were spotty with large ground under repair areas in center of fairways frequently. Cheap, but would pay a few more for better conditions.
Greens and fairways
It's good to see that the greens are back in excellent shape. Fairways are pretty decent. There's a couple spots but they really improved, it's good to see when they put money back in the course. It's always been a great one, but now they're adding some new upgrades. You'll enjoy the course. It's not easy just have fun and get out there and golf staff is great
Summer Fun
Course looked great , just because living here in Arizona, most courses are really dry , not Sunbird, all the greens were in good shape, pace of play was excellent, 1st one out of the chute
Always good.
Never get tired of playing this course especially in summer. Besides lower rates and less golfers at a par of 66 can play a round in 3 hours or less to beat the heat.
Everyone on staff is friendly and accommodating.
Great course
I golf here semi regularly, and have always enjoyed my experience. Well maintained course, and for a beginning golfer, it is not so difficult as to be overwhelming.
First timers
Played today and it was great , so easy to play and not busy
Favorite Executive Course
I 🩷 Sunbird!
This course is challenging, fun, & has great shade in the summer. The people in the houses that surround this course are encouraging and have a great sense of humor. It was such a great time on Saturday. The people behind us gave us space and the people in front kept a great pace. If you haven’t tried this course you definitely should.
Hot slow day!
Started 15 minutes early but allowed a single to go ahead of us on hoke #1. From hole #3 on we had a twosome continue to drag on. From hitting second balls, to the man giving the lady instruction and her constant taking too much time on approach of tee shots. This made the day very frustrating. Due to te heat we unfortunately did not see a Marshall or anyone that we could bring attention to this lack of courtesy.
2025 July
Overall course was okay. We have played this course several times over the past 2 years. I would suggest better control of tee time starts and the pace of play. We usually get done with our round in about 3 1/2 hours on average. However, this last round had a foursome of young men playing in front of us that slowed play significantly. They were playing some type of game (assume $$$) involved that slowed them.
