Junior National Golf Club
About
Junior National Golf Club (formerly known as Tres Rios Golf Course at Estrella Mountain Park and Estrella Mountain Golf Course) is rich with dense forestry including eucalyptus, mesquite, and pine trees as well as cottonwoods. The course has a parkland-style layout with rolling fairways lined with trees and undulating greens that are medium-sized and fast. To add more challenge to the golf course, water hazards and bunkers come into play on several holes. The par-4 seventh hole is considered the most difficult driving hole on the course. There are stately trees off the tee and the second shot is to a narrow sloping green. Junior National Golf Club features multiple tee boxes for a variety of different golfing options.

Dont Judge a Book Only by its Reviews. This is a nice little gem.
Course is in as nice of shape as i have played it. Summer or fall.
Staff was so friendly. Concerned with my ability to play in the heat. Offered tips for staying cool. etra ice for the cooler.
Golf cart worked well. Course condition was very good for this location. I made a point to tell the staff how enjoyable it was to play today.
This isnt a top course in town, but it is a hidden gem that i hope stays hidden so I can golf it anytime I want. :-)
Great course for beginners
Great place to learn the game, that being said, expect the pace of play to be extremely slow as most beginners don't know about ready golf and 4 hour rounds, going just by what they see on TV. That being said tee boxes and fairways are about 3 stars this time of year but greens are a solid 4 - roll slow but true. Have paid more for worse greens. Any way, still quite a value for the buck.
Had a great time. Didn't like the fact that there was no beer cart made for a long day
Below average
I drove out expecting a nice course but it came up short. The course has a cool traditional layout and the greens were actually in good shape. The biggest problems were the lack of grass in areas where grass should exist and the driving range is pretty awful, not worth $5 for a small. I think I have played my first and last round here. Conditions are just too poor.
Great place to help grandkids.
Took son and two grandkids out to help them with there golf etiquette and there game. Great place to work on game.
quick greens
Nice staff, fairways and tees in great shape. Greens are very fast..... and not too many flat surfaces to put a pin
Budget Course Not bad
it is every bit of a "you get what you pay for" course. Attacked by a swarm of bees near the 15th hole, found a dead bird right off the green, pretty nasty so it has been there for awhile. I am not the greatest of golfers so i had a challange with the course but for the most part it was still enjoyable. Keep your head on swivel, because stray balls often find there way to you.
Love large trees and dogleg right fairways,
Over all had a great time there, older course with mature trees and the staff was very friendly:love the fact the greens were fast.
Awesome Deal, Fun day with my friend!
Can't complain much when the cost for two people, including the cart was only $32! The front desk young man was very friendly as well.
There were a couple things that could have been better: No water/cleaner in a majority of the ball washers, there was no one manning the cafe when we were at the turn, and the area between the tee boxes and fairway were in very rough shape. Also wish that the course was better marked as the layout can sometimes be confusing!
However, the fairways and greens were beautiful and other than a few weirdly placed holes (really difficult!) we had a wonderful time! Thank you!
Don't waste your time
The first thing I noticed was how poorly the greens were taken care of. Some were slow and bumpy. Others were scalped and sanded. Nothing was consistent and we found craters in greens. NO CARE. Competent grounds keepers do not live here. Teeing off on 7 someone rides up on a 4 wide mower kicking rocks and dust and circling a tree 30 feet away. When I notified the front desk on the turn I was told the GM would be "notified". Nothing else was done. Can you imagine teeing off and having rocks and dust and grass kicked on UNREAL. Gophers holes everywhere. To top off the nightmare they are running sprinklers on the fairways as you are playing. This was not a good experience and the staff has a lot to learn about customer curtesy and caring for a golf course
*2nd Time Playing*
Although in better shape this year than when I played it last year, it's still in rough shape. The fairways were at least green this year, but the greens were brown and the ball rolled for days. I never had to repair a divot, the green was too hard!!
With the slight improvement over last year, I'll wait another 2-3 years to play it again and it might just be a diamond in the rough by then!!
I really enjoyed playing Tres Rios again
From others I heard this course had been getting a bit down trodden lately, so I did not know what to expect. Well I was pleasantly surprised as the course is pretty green and in pretty good shape. According to the clubhouse, the new superintendent has them putting lots of water on the course and apparently they have an ample water source. This has helped the conditions and I would not hesitate to go back to Tres Rios and play again.

Holes 1-3 were nice. 9 & 18 were pretty good too. Very fast greens! Two of my putts slipped off the face of the earth!
Price is right
Greens and fairways were good. If you get off the fairway at all expect to lose a ball in very tall uncut grass or be hitting off bare dirt. No cart service but you can't have everything for these prices. They do have ice chests on the carts which is always nice here in AZ.
