Junior National Golf Club
About
Junior National Golf Club (formerly known as Tres Rios Golf Course at Estrella Mountain Park and Estrella Mountain Golf Course) is rich with dense forestry including eucalyptus, mesquite, and pine trees as well as cottonwoods. The course has a parkland-style layout with rolling fairways lined with trees and undulating greens that are medium-sized and fast. To add more challenge to the golf course, water hazards and bunkers come into play on several holes. The par-4 seventh hole is considered the most difficult driving hole on the course. There are stately trees off the tee and the second shot is to a narrow sloping green. Junior National Golf Club features multiple tee boxes for a variety of different golfing options.

I really enjoyed playing Tres Rios again
From others I heard this course had been getting a bit down trodden lately, so I did not know what to expect. Well I was pleasantly surprised as the course is pretty green and in pretty good shape. According to the clubhouse, the new superintendent has them putting lots of water on the course and apparently they have an ample water source. This has helped the conditions and I would not hesitate to go back to Tres Rios and play again.

Holes 1-3 were nice. 9 & 18 were pretty good too. Very fast greens! Two of my putts slipped off the face of the earth!
Price is right
Greens and fairways were good. If you get off the fairway at all expect to lose a ball in very tall uncut grass or be hitting off bare dirt. No cart service but you can't have everything for these prices. They do have ice chests on the carts which is always nice here in AZ.
Transition time from Winter grass to Summer grass
Good layout. Easy the walk some challenging holes. . Thin on grass right now as it transitions back to the Bermuda
Mondayat Estrella Park
The course was as I remembered it. Layout is nice. Grass coverage was thin. Greens were very fast with thin grass coverage. They really need to find a way to charge a couple of bucks more and put the money into improved course conditions.
Great time
Fun course while challenging at the same time. Staff is awesome. I'll be back soon
Big Bang for buck
Basicallly you get what you pay for. It's a good deal, plus you get to see the Estrella mountains. On days when you play in 4 hours or less it's a great course, anything over 4 hours gives you the opportunity to see its flaws and shortcomings. Needs some serious marshalling on busy days. When the course is moving you can't go wrong for the price.
Nice out of the way course
Location is out of the way, no house anywhere. Nice overall tee boxes, & fairways where ok. Greens are rock hard and fast. Very good value. Staff was all very nice. Asking how we was playing at both the turn and finish. Absolutely no uptight country club feel.
Good value
Good value. Very busy with a bit of a back. Need a marshal and cart girl. Staff are great.
Low budget municipal!!
This was my 2nd outing at this course, I will be hard pressed to play here again. The pace of play is recommended 4hr, our 3some played in 4 1/2, pace was dictated by individual and 2somes scattered throughout the course! Attempts should be made to pair up groups!! Maintenance was marginal, towels & ball washers could be more available . The course roughs are exactly that! This course will continue to be a low budget course as it is hard to attract play if what I've experienced is the norm!!!
Good, but no beer cart and it was HOT. Could've used some beer.
One of TR GC better days.
Weather was good, speed of play was good today. Last time I played here it took a little over 5 hours to play 18. Officials need to pay closer attention to 5 somes and 6 somes. We expect the golf course personnel to not allow such situations.
Great golf course in the estrella mountains. Good mixture of straightforward and challenging holes. Condition was fine, greens were fast and firm and in excellent conditions, but the fairways for the most part were fine, but a few needed some conditioning. Old school course with tree lined fairways and bunkers around blister greens, tilted strongly back to front. 1,9,10,18 have a little elevation change, but the rest of the course is flat.
Very slow pace
The pace of play was very slow. No Marshall and arrogant group 3 ahead of us backed everyone up. Added an hour to our game on a fairly easy course. No refreshment cart. Green fees are cheap enough, so I guess you get what you pay for.
May play again if I have nothing to do for the whole day. It might take that long.
Great for beginners and experienced players
The course was competitive enough for myself as a beginner yet provided enough challenges for the more experienced members of my group. We will play again.
