Junior National Golf Club
About
Junior National Golf Club (formerly known as Tres Rios Golf Course at Estrella Mountain Park and Estrella Mountain Golf Course) is rich with dense forestry including eucalyptus, mesquite, and pine trees as well as cottonwoods. The course has a parkland-style layout with rolling fairways lined with trees and undulating greens that are medium-sized and fast. To add more challenge to the golf course, water hazards and bunkers come into play on several holes. The par-4 seventh hole is considered the most difficult driving hole on the course. There are stately trees off the tee and the second shot is to a narrow sloping green. Junior National Golf Club features multiple tee boxes for a variety of different golfing options.

Just not that great
I really want this course to be good but every time I am there i come away thinking how disappointing it is. The Layout is old school but decent. The Greens are fast but very hard and almost bald. the over seeded fairways are just barely full enough to hit a decent shot off of. The Rough...forget about it - its dirt.....Better courses around for the cheap prices.
Tres Rios Compact
Very compact course in a small amount of space. With narrow width wise squeezing in 18 holes. A lot of balls coming at you from other fairways.
The holes were on the slopes of the greens and the speed was like putting on ice. Not setup for bogie golfers. Over 4 1/2 hours to play is way to slow. Staff was great but because of course condition and speed of play won't be back.
Too much rough. Not enough grass. Fairways narrow. Booked too many folks.
A little rough off the fairway
I like the course because of the pace of play and the price is reasonable compared to others close around. The greens are in excellent shape and are very fast. Don't expect your ball to hold when chipping on. The only thing that is a little rough, is the rough. Stay in the fairway and you will be fine. Love the short grass fairways.
Great condition
This course is improving every time I play there. Greens are looking good, fairways are filling out and the new staff is amazing. Restaurant has an improving menu. This course is the best value in the West Valley if not the entire Phoenix metropolitan area.
Ok course
The course is good if you live close and are looking to get in a round. Look for special rates and you will like it more.
Lumpy bumpy
The course was so bumpy that we physically had to quit after only 6 holes
Good course great price
Now that it's under new management they have maid some major improvements to the course condition. fairways are full, greens are tight and fast, sand traps are sand and not clay mix. Great great improvement.
Great value
We have been enjoying this course for several years now, it is a great value for the money and we will continue to golf there.
tres rios
95% of Tee boxes full of holes and un-even
No on course amenities
The staff was amazing, This course has really been upgrade from a few years ago. The fairways were is great shape and the green rolled nicley and fast. The pace was very slow because the morning frost pushed all the tee times back. The lay out was defiantly from 1962. As a result it is nice to play a something different from a desert course. I would certainly play it again.
Post Thanksgiving enjoyment
Threesome enjoyed afternoon 18 holes. Ideal weather and enjoyable Tres Rios golf outing. Very welcoming staff, new golf carts and well groomed course.
Course still coming off overseeding.
Course needs some work but overall a fun and challenging day.
Great value, fun course.
This course something for everyone. It plays at better than 6800 yards from the tips and less than 6000 from the front tees. The course layout is fun and has some challenging holes. There trees all around the course which offer a break from the sun and make sure you keep your ball on line. The staff is very friendly and understands they are. In the hospitality business which is good as too many courses across the country do not understand this concept.
All and all this is a good course and I will return for another round. That being said, the day I was there it looked like they had not cut the fairways in a few days. The fairways were more like first cut. The gentlemen in the pro shop said they had over seeded and we're getting caught up on the mowing cycle. The green was a little slow for me but most player will like these greens.
If you're you have not tried this course, I recommend giving it a try. Good luck and hit me straight.
Nice Layout
I have been playing this course since the eighties, love the course design and it's good for every one regardless of handicap.
Awesome
This course was in great shape. The greens and tee boxes were in fantastic shape and the fairways were coming in nicely now that the sprinkler problems are being addressed. I hope it comes out of overseed in the same shape. The new staff is putting in many hours to make this course perfect. Oh, they should have all new carts when the reopen after overseed. Looking forward to October 8th, when they reopen.
Estrella
Played this course about 2 years ago and had been reluctant to go back ever since. We are playing a tournament there in a couple of weeks so thought we would get a handle on how it was playing. Have to say I was pleasantly surprised! greens were in great shape, fairways were in good shape, rough was a little rangy but overall very happy to go back again! Staff was very helpful and sincere!
u977992852 - We are happy to hear that you returned and had a wonderful time playing! Thank you for the kind words towards our staff! We hope to see you again soon!
All around a really nice course.
Some of the best greens I played and putted on. Very smooth.

Well, this course came out of overseed in better shape than ever. They are already allowing carts on the fairways with no restrictions. If you haven't played here in awhile you must give it a try.
