Junior National Golf Club
About
Junior National Golf Club (formerly known as Tres Rios Golf Course at Estrella Mountain Park and Estrella Mountain Golf Course) is rich with dense forestry including eucalyptus, mesquite, and pine trees as well as cottonwoods. The course has a parkland-style layout with rolling fairways lined with trees and undulating greens that are medium-sized and fast. To add more challenge to the golf course, water hazards and bunkers come into play on several holes. The par-4 seventh hole is considered the most difficult driving hole on the course. There are stately trees off the tee and the second shot is to a narrow sloping green. Junior National Golf Club features multiple tee boxes for a variety of different golfing options.

Good value for the price.
This course is great for the price we paid including the cart. The staff was friendly and inviting. However, if you're looking for perfect, it is not. The course needs some attention and there were quite a few prairie dog holes. Overall, we had a good time.
Fun course for a mixture of skill levels
Course was fun to play and staff was really outgoing. Obviously, the season had taken its' toll on the turf but would be a great value either way!
Diamond in the Rough
The course was played in June 2013. The grass was going dormant with some overseeding to green up the greens. Little ground squirrels (looked like small prairie dogs to me) and rabbits were making home all over the golf course with dirt mounds everywhere. Some traps were set. Some greens were also affected by the ground squirrels. Overall golf was good, course was interesting, requiring you to move the ball left and right off the tee. Greens held with higher spin rate balls. Greens rolled true on putts.
Needed beverage carts on course and open the snack bar.
Great place to play for $12 golf and cart.
Clubhouse staff were friendly and helpful.
plays straight, and fairly wide open.
There were a few "tough" holes with hazards, but overall I found it to be pretty straight forward. Not too long or short either. I had a good time playing this remote course.
Good layout, inadequate course directions
restaurant closed too early for lunch, water fountains were sufficient but the water was not cold. too many holes in the fairway due to some type of rodent
Great value for the money.
Greens were a bit thin but despite the lack of grass, putts were smooth and were rolling true. Tees and fairways were somewhat soft, had plenty of grass and the course was well maintained. They did not have coolers to keep water cool and did not have a beverage cart running. Warm/hot water was coming out of the water fountains scattered thruout the course. The drinking water situation needs to be addressed for this to time of year.
the course is a great value!
good value, course is in nice condition! Rate was good.
I like the course layout...
They are working on the course...Tee boxes are the worst...Need leveling and watering...Gophers are very abundant and causing some problems on tee boxes and greens...
Fun, Affordable, & Friendly
The staff was very cordial upon arrival, greeting with a smile and offering range balls if needed. I arrived as a single and since I was early I was given the option of waiting to join another or group or simply going right away, which was nice to have both available.
The course plays well, fast greens. This particular day there were several gopher holes throughout but having played here several times the course is typically well maintained so it might've been an off day.
There's a couple water holes but nothing too extreme, no real dog legs of any kind, and only a few real elevated tees if you're playing from the black on a couple holes.
Overall though, I got a great deal on the price, it was a nice relaxing pace, course was in good shape and it helped that I played well too. I've recommended this course to my golfer friends (casual and serious) and will continue to do so.
greens are fast but roll well, course is open and fun to play.
Would play again, great bargain!::!!!@@@@!!!!!@_!!!!!!!!!!
Strong Course
This is a challanging course. Bridies will be few and par is a good score on any hole. Greens were ok, but rough is spotty, with gopher mounds and holes.
Nice course
We play this course fairly regularly and enjoy it. The course has made major improvements within the past 3-5 years and seems to almost always be in nice condition. I do have to say that they are having what looks like MAJOR golpher issues throughout the course which is really too bad as this is a nice track. The fairways are in good shape and the greens are running pretty quick. Our group plays from the White T's and there are 3-4 T-boxes that are in temporary locations and it can be a little difficult to get a good feel under your feet.....We will play again and do enjoy this course!
Three generations
This is one of my favorite courses in the valley I love it I've been going there for 30 years.
Nice track
after reading the reviews on this course, I was expecting the worst, but it is your typical muni course, good value, challenging holes fast greens, sand traps were below par, they need to be raked a couple times a week instead of watered.
Good solid course for the money! Love the scenery
Went above my expectations, greens were in good shape, fairways werent brown, and some nice slopes here and there. I also brought my 6 year old daughter along just to ride with me cause i had no one to watch her and the staff (hector) was very nice about it and I really appreciated it. Got stuck behind two slow, grumpy old players who didn't seem to want me to play through or didn't know what course etiquette was so it took longer then expected but besides them, would have been done pretty quickly. Overall good experience and will definitely be back again soon and I really liked the mountains all around so it made for some nice scenery :)
Dirt
Too much dirt, undefined cart paths, rough ground causes bumpy cart ride. Playing on dirt is like playing in the street, hot and not relaxing or enjoyable.
distant and in need of attention
need the caddy shack guy to get after the gofers. many dirt piles and dry dirt areas that need attention.
great greens, fairways have prarie dog problems, cart paths are rough
Nice setting. Greens are best I have played on this year, maybe an 11. It appears course is in transition going from poorly maintained to on the way to becoming a great course in a year or two.
Great value, good for beginning to intermediate players.
This was my first attempt at a full-size 18-hole course, and I was particularly drawn by the GolfNow "Hot Deal" rate. There are only a few water hazards and elevation changes, but almost all holes are lined with trees. Fairways, bunkers, and greens were in good shape. Greens were pretty fast, especially the practice green. However, the rough was full of gopher holes. Cart paths are not well defined, which leads to a bumpy ride.
