Toka Sticks Golf Club
About
Unlike many other courses in Phoenix, the course at the Toka Sticks Golf Club was not done in a traditional desert-style. It is known amongst locals for having very fast greens, many of which are elevated. The old Toka Sticks course was originally a nine-hole course built in 1945 but in addition to making it an 18-hole, championship course, it has had many renovations in the years since to make it a more challenging and interesting course. There are stately trees present on the course call for straight shots in order to reach the narrow fairways. Two lakes are situated on the course that create water hazards that come into play on sever holes. There are also several well-placed sand bunkers throughout. Toka Stick Golf Club also offers a short game area, a putting green and a driving range.

Great round
Great round, but most of the greens have a lot of brown spots. Pace of play was excellent
Toka sticks
Greens and fairways in great shape. No ball washers and no drinking water. Why no ranger to watch pace of play?
Pinky
Fun day. Not a hard course. They do need to purchase more golf carts. Cart girl not around much.
Frustrating
Very slow pace of play. No Marshall to help speed up the pace of play.
Would not play there again on the weekend.
Too many wannabe PGA pros hitting from the tips and never hitting one fairway
Nice shape
Played a lot of tracks this winter and spring ( all ridiculously over priced ... and I’m a native) ... this course was in the best shape bar none compared to the rest and 30 to 50 bucks cheaper! Granted it’s not the most entertaining layout... but it’s a lot better than paying 130 bucks for other non entertaining layouts
Hidden Gem
Overall it was a very nice flat course that is good for most golfers of all ages. Staff was friendly and overall attentive. I was given very dirty golf cart but did not point this out as we just wanted to get started but need to pass this along as this is something that should never be over looked especially in the current covid world. I think that was my biggest issue with my experience and my guest even mentioned this as a disappointment. Other wise the course was in decent condition and I am a realist. If I was paying more I would expect more but the course is built in mind for the regular day to day golfer at a nominal greens fees. I would recommend this course to anyone who is also a realist and gets that not everything should be pristine in life.
Tremendous Improvement - Really Solid Track
I used to play here regularly 10-12 years ago when I was a student at ASU’s Polytechnic campus right next door and this course was barely worth the $15-$20 green fees they were charging back then. There has been some nice development to the nearby property including a new gas station/convenience store, new hotel and most importantly a new golf shop and snack shack/restaurant. Newer golf carts and a friendly service staff were also major pluses.
However, most importantly the tee boxes, fairways and green were all in outstanding shape - lush green grass just about everywhere. Truly some of the best conditions I’ve seen from a course at this price point. They are Ben changes the layout a bit and I think added or changed a couple holes which was cool to see.
Very well done Toka Sticks!
Course is now in great shape!
Third time to golf here this season - and the course is in the best shape ever! Kudos to the grounds staff for the great job. We had a great time!
Course in Good Shape
Overall, Toka Sticks GC was in very good condition for play. Tee boxes = good; fairways = very good; greens = very good (though a little slow); sand traps = fair; pace of play = very good; value = very good; staff = very good. Most definitely worth the drive....
Disappointed
Should be advised if the greens have been sanded. Very disappointed. Greens are in terrible shape.
