Course is very well maintained
Very nice course for your buck. Staff was super friendly and helpful. I would recommend to play this course.
this course has it going on!
wow, more than was expected. challenging and several great golf holes!
Course very green, staff nice and helpful.
We player here on a Saturday morning and the course was in great shape. The fairways and greens were well watered and receptive to shots without being overly soft. It took us four hours and fifteen minutes which is slow but, sadly, fairly standard in Az these days. For twenty-six bucks it was a great deal.
Very nice views of the valley,
Wide fairways, with workable greens. Ice machine with water at 7th and 13th holes. Beautiful landscape throughout this course. With South Mountain in the background, the skyline of downtown, makes for a great day on the links.
plenty of space for error
This course was wide open and green. Great elevated view of the city at the base of south mountain. Great for out of town guests. Play was held up by a group in front so much so that I was curious about why the marshal was not involved. Other than that no complaints for cheap summer golf.
vistal golf course seems to the average village golf course.
price is inexpensive. also fairway is very good but greens are very slowly. it's an excellent place to exercise golf. anyway vistal golf course is good.
South Mountain Beauty
Great scenery, with some very tough holes. Better have your wedge game working because Vistal has a couple small tricky to stick greens with the dreaded white stakes very near.
Nice course with great views of Downtown and South Mountain
The course staff and cart ladies are all super nice. The course itself is pretty decent for the price. The fairways are kind of hard, but you get TONS of roll with a good drive. the greens are also pretty hard and bumpy, but you cant complain too much for the price. Bunkers are fair, with a bit of sand before you bottom out. Just be careful on Hole 9, it shares a green with Hole 18.
Great staff . . . but . . .
The staff were awesome. The course was in decent shape, but could use a bit more love as there were many areas that needed restoration.
A fun track at a great value.
Great Value in South Phoenix
This course is on a wonderful piece of property right up against the south mountains. Great views of downtown Phoenix and all at a wonderful price. The staff is very attentive and friendly. Course condition was fair to good, and the course condition will be very respectable throughout the summer months.
Good bargain
Pros: Cheap, 29 bucks for a 645 tee time. Greens in good shape, sand is groomed nicely, not crowded, good pace of play
Lots of dead-dying sod laid down in a few areas in the first cut around the course, a few soggy areas on the low points in the fairway that are over watered.
Nice track but needs to be watered more.
The course has a nice but slightly confusing layout. On 3 different holes we found other golfers hitting at us because they were playing to the wrong greens. The greens are as hard as concrete and wouldn't hold a ball if it had a grappling hook attached to it. This could be a great place to play if they watered more and marshaled the pace of play better.
Great course
Great course would play it again very friendly staff.
This course was fun to play
This course was quick and easy. We never saw the food cart come around the entire time, so please make sure to have one in service hopefully for the next time we decide to play there.
Dissappointed!!
Played Vistal and was very dissappointed in the condition of what use to be a great course,it still has a great layout and wonderful views, but as far as tee to green forget about it. The tee boxes were un cut ,the fairways were browned out and dont get me started on the greens......they were a joke, unless u like trying to stop your shot in the parking lot. Apparently they just aereated them two weeks ago, well it didnt take. The bunkers were bad too. I recommend a different course until they fix these issues.
This course has some elevation changes and great views of downtown
Great views of the city, bunkers could use more sand, greens being aerated during play. Great layout and excellent value, always a must play when we're down.
The course was in pretty bad shape! I've played this course before, wth happened to it???
The course was in pretty bad shape. Lots of dead spots on the fairways and the greens were like concrete and bumpy. Save your $ on playing this course. You definitely get what you pay for here.
One of my favorite courses to play!
Great course and wonderful staff. Its a great day of golf when we go to Vistal.
i bet it was nice at one time
paid $50...would only ever play there again for $20 MAX...trust me pony up the little extra $$$ and hit raven or legacy right down the road...skip this one if your looking to play somewhere nice...now if you just want to get out thats one thing but please dont pay $50 like we did...you will be disapointed...bunkers left unattended not even bunkers anymore weeds and grass growing in them...is it a bunker or desert...sod taken from areas to replace others...i feel bad for this place...cause like i said i have a feeling it was real nice at one time...but as of 4/28/13 it is tired and im guessing seen much better days...has potential...sad...they have a flyover on their website...not even close...
Most fairway and a quarter of the green side sand bunkers have been filled in!
It's understood that maintenance costs are cutting into profits but does that mean we should fill in all of the strategic fairway bunkers and many green side bunkers? What was once a challenge for low handicaps from the back tees is now a pushover. If I were the course architect I'd have them remove my name and put it where those bunkers went. A travesty. The back tee slope of 129 should be reduced to 117. Do not play if you want good conditions and a challenging test. They ruined it!
