Continental Golf Course
About
The executive-length course at Continental Golf Club is a popular choice due to the friendly staff, convenient location, and challenging game. The course features undulating greens that are in excellent shape, as is the entire course. Unique mounding surrounds the narrow fairways. A drainage ditch and two lakes also come into play on the golf course. The signature hole is the par-4 18th hole, which calls for not only a tee shot but also an approach shot over water. The course plays fast but it is still quite enjoyable. Continental Golf Club also has practice facilities including a large driving range, putting green, and practice green.

Playing Friday afternoon we had certain expectations regarding the pace of the play but this was one of the slowest round of golf we played for the
The weather was perfect in the high 70’s with no wind. The starter let us play earlier than our tee time pairing us with a father-son twosome. We appreciated his good gesture but the appreciation vaporated after the third hole where the players began stacking up. By the 13th hole., there were four teams backed up at the tee.
The course layout is very good and it must have been a good executive course some time in the past but it is sadly unkempt and no maintenance.
The greens were inconsistent in speed and there were so many divots that nobody seemed to care to repair.
We couldn’t finish the last two holes and it seemed like a norm for the local players . Most of the players quit either after 15 holes. It was a new experience.
Under the Weather
This is a Par 60 course - so not expecting anything extraordinary. It is also subject to flooding by design as it is part of the Indian Bend Wash system, and a recent flood had just receded - leaving lots of mud and brown grass. As a winter Scottsdale course at 50-70% the cost of Championship courses nearby, expectations are not high. However, besides the greens being in great shape, the rest of the course was in shambles from tee boxes to unavailability of golf carts and one Starter employee trying to handle finishing golfers, club cleaning, getting carts from finishers to people just starting their round. The poor guy was probably 75 years old and l was - surprised he did not have a heart attack. 18 holes on 3700 yards took almost 5 hours to play.
Course is short, but great condition. Excellent value for the money. I will be playing this course again.
Good Executive Course
This course usually plays slow due to jammed tee times. Played in 3 1/2 hours today. Was in good shape. Some of the greens were goose damaged. They had brand new carts today. Always gets jammed on 5th and 6 th hole. Ned 10 minute tee times. Crush burgers are good
Good value
1st time here. Buddy of mine always trying to get me to play here. Fairways and greens are all in above average shape. Some tee boxes are a little uneven. It’s a nice quick course to play. Good to work on your short game.
Love This Course, But ...
We play here often because the course can be played in just over 3 hours, it's a great test of the short game and there are about six short par 4s that let you get the "Big Stick" out of the bag. It's also great value for the price. Having said that, each year it;'s gotten more popular and they aren't handling that growth in demand very well. This time, we had to circle the parking lot to find someone leaving so we could grab a spot. Then, we had to wait for about 10 minutes because they ran out of carts! An employee told me they had many carts out of service and had a whole new fleet on order, and I hope that's true, but it won't solve the parking problem. Nor will it solve another issue: it's really hard to get a spot on the driving range before your round. We waited a while for someone to leave then just gave up and went to practice putting ... which again was pretty crowded. As you might expect, the pace of play was really slow. We shook it off and still had fun, but it took us almost four hours which is just not reasonable. We really like this fun little course and would recommend it, but I'm fearful that it is becoming a victim of it's own success.
Good course. Challenging for a par 60
We were 30 minutes late teeing off because they did not have enough power carts
Once we started the pace was good.
Get some carts
The course needs to purchase some more carts ! Standing in line waiting for power cart was annoying. Course seems over booked we where 20 mis later then our booked tee time.
A nice little executive course
We are snowbirds and play this convenient executive course several times per year. It's great for couples golf, all short holes and some with water to navigate around, especially 18. It is built in a water run off area so it does stay wet for quite a while after rains so the course conditions always vary but the grass around the greens is good for chipping on when you miss one and the greens are okay for the price.
Slow pace.
Greens were rough as it seems no one knew how to fix divots. Played after last nights rain so many fairways had standing water. Tee times were booked 7 minutes apart. We were about 20 minutes behind our scheduled start time. Had to wait for a cart to come in from 18 as there were not enough carts. Very slow round. Waited on every hole. Tee times are booked too close together.
Tee boxes need repair
Course was in excellent shape. Greens and fairways were in great shape. Only complaint is with their tee boxes, hard to find a level spot to hit from.
Short and Boring
Ideal course for super seniors. Par 60. Greens roll pretty good. Lots of dirt on my ball in the fairways and on the green. Lots of rough areas just off the fairway. Tees uneven and hard to find a place for my feet because of the amount of sand, like hiring out if a bunker.
Hot deal for $10 made it bearable.
Diesel powered carts or were they just loud.
Lack of amenities
Lack of amenitiesThere were scattered light showers and at the turn due to lack of players on the course they close down the bar everything but check in where they had beer chips and soda pop .We had plans to eat at the turn but nothing was available, no cart girl either. One of the foursome had to cancel. So in all it was quite dismal and no food, but they were not going to close the course so we had Play since I already had to pay. We did not get what we paid for. I should’ve been charged for just nine holes !!
Typical executive course which has been improved in recent years.
Decent Executive Course
My wife and I played this course for the second time. It’s a decent little executive course with a relaxed vibe. Maybe too relaxed? The pace was very slow, in part because the group ahead of us were struggling and would re hit shots after many poor first shots. It didn’t matter too much because there was nowhere for them to go as it was backed up. Two groups ahead the players were not playing ready golf and chatting often when they could have played
Good executive course
This course near Old Town is a decent little track for the average golfer. My wife and I enjoyed it. Relaxed environment, friendly staff and players. The course also has a range and practice area
