About
Located in the metropolitan Phoenix area, the affordably priced Ken McDonald Golf Course is a championship-length course that is suitable for any level of golfer. The flat terrain of the course makes for an enjoyable stroll, while the water hazards that come into play on eight holes provide plenty of challenge. The water hazards are provided by the Western Canal, which flows directly through the golf course. The par-5 11th hole is the longest on the course at 570 yards; it is very difficult to reach in two shots. In addition to the course, Ken McDonald Golf Course offers several other amenities including a restaurant, club fitting and repairs, and professional golf instruction.

In need of TLC: a great course that feels sad
Upon reading reviews from 2–4 months ago, I knew going in that course conditions were going to be a bit of a problem. On most bang-for-your-buck courses, if you can’t find a fairway, you’ll have to play off dirt, sand, or some desert scape. At Ken McDonald, you get beautiful, tight fairways that are unfortunately littered with remnants of fallen trees from months in the past.
It feels negligent that for almost half a year the course has been left like this, because if those many trees were cleaned up, it would be my favorite golf course I’ve played in the Tempe/Mesa/Phoenix area. Truthfully, other than the trees, I think this is a perfect course, with well-maintained greens and thoughtfully designed shots.
I had a great time overall, other than a terribly slow pace of play—but that’s just how it goes sometimes.
Fun Course to play
Had a fun round today. Course in good condition. Staff welcoming. Pace of play a bit on the slow side. But we were just chilling and having a fun round. Course could use a bit of a clean up. Lots of cut down trees and dead shrubs throughout course.
Decent deal compared to other ootions
Of course there’s always room for improvement in course conditions but overall it was great. Tee boxes were perfect, fairways and greens also good. Not a whole lot of trouble on the course. Shot a lifetime low score of 77. Only the second time of my life breaking 80 so I reckon I have no real complaints.
Needs water
Needs water on grass. Not in sand traps. There was cut up logs left all over the course. They need to clean that up

The course is in great condition and pace of play is always non issue!
1st Time
Our 1st time playing this course. Some driving range balls need to be replaced cuz they’ve seen better days. Tee boxes, fairways and greens were all in good shape. The course was a bit challenging for a duffer like me. We both agree that we would play this course again.
Hard Pass
Tee time was 12:45. Was told 30 minute delay when we checked in
The place was packed with backed up golfers, ended up leaving around 2:30
Andrew in the pro shop did try and remedy the issue by rebooking us the next day
we showed up and again 30 minute delay we did finish 18
Poorly run course
Don’t waste your time
I was unable to make it due to some family matters which took precedence!!
Amazing course for the price
AZ golf gets crazy expensive. This course was really good for the total $.
Not enough carts
When we played they were short carts and we were waiting for them to come off hole 18. That caused a back up of 40 minutes there was also a lot of down tree benches on the rough in piles that appeared to have been there a long time
Course is in good shape.
Course is fine. The back 9 needs sand in the bunkers. The course struggles with the amount of play and they need new carts. My tee time was delayed 30 minutes because there carts keep dying.

Great staff...course conditions were moderate with greens that were hard and bumpy, fairways that were a bit spotty and still dealing with the debris from the October 2025 storm.
