About
Located in the metropolitan Phoenix area, the affordably priced Ken McDonald Golf Course is a championship-length course that is suitable for any level of golfer. The flat terrain of the course makes for an enjoyable stroll, while the water hazards that come into play on eight holes provide plenty of challenge. The water hazards are provided by the Western Canal, which flows directly through the golf course. Not in great shape
The traps on this course are hard packed dirt. The damage from the storm is still laying everywhere which led to lost balls. The foursome in front of us was playing multiple balls. We were late getting off because we had to wait for carts to come in. Some of the greens were in rough shape. Not a great experience.
Kenny Mac!
Typical day at Kenny Mac…uneven lies, greens rolled fairly true…lots of standing water after the rain last night and they still haven’t cleaned cleaned up the dead timber from October
Poor
Poorly maintained. Several Greens are poor. All bunkers are terrible. Lots a bare dirt/sand areas along the sides of fairways, etc.
Bait and switch online
The course, was in terrible shape. Booked it for $67. When I got there, they said, oh, it's a holiday. It's now eighty seven dollars should have honored the price, but they didn't not cool!
Not the best for $100 bucks I would say go play other places for now.
Big tree issue from storm have not cleaned up yet which is fine but again for the money else where.
Gone down hill
Waited 40 minutes past our tee time for carts. Lots of walkers but still ran out of carts. Pace of play was about 5+ hours. Also, almost every hole has tree and bush mess piled everywhere from the storm 4 months ago.
The outsourcing of the management has only resulted in poor conditions and higher prices. Nice work city of Tempe.
Course is in pretty good shape
No complaints. Greens are fairly consistent, fairways are green. Still a fair amount of fallen trees on the course, which can be somewhat bothersome if you don't hit a straight ball!
Funnest City Courae in Maricopa County
Played this for 35 years...country club member in mountains.....need to work out that swing? Usually good grass, this week we caught the 80 degrees and no rain conditions..... If ya need to work on your game and enjoy a no stress hit the ball round...here ya go!
They are working on removal of many, many trees. They also need to reseed grass in a lot of areas. The tree removal wasn’t an issue, lack of grass in many places can be worked on.
Good solid municipal course
Nothing special but very playable and they keep the prices reasonable so it stays busy. I thought the grass seemed kind of thin in places. Local rule in force about free drop from brush piles as a micro-burst took out a whole lot of trees all over the course. Staff is great!
Great day
Always fun playing this course. Still a number of fallen and dead trees around but fairways and greens were great
Great condition. Greens were great. Fallen trees still not being cleared out is borderline ridiculous at the point though. Loading 1 tree trunk at a time and driving the whole course?! Makes no sense.
Hot Deal worth it
Fairly slow play here - nothing has changed. 4.5 hr round is fast at this course. Lots of trees and branches knocked down but the haven’t cleared it out, so you can hit it just off the fairway and be under piles of branches.
Good course for the money
Had a good enough time, sad the city is letting the trees sit and be hazards though. Would play again
