Shalimar Golf Club is a nine-hole golf course in Tempe. The course is best for beginners but it has enough challenges in store to make it a great option for more advanced players who want a quick round. The layout is comprised of three par 3s and six par 4s. It weaves through a smattering of mature trees and across gently rolling hills. The small greens can be quite tricky, especially since there are strategically placed bunkers lurking along some. Water hazards come into play on a few holes, including the 155-yard fifth, which is one of the golf course's toughest. You'll have to pull off a carry over the area's biggest lake to a heavily bunkered, narrow green. Shalimar Golf Club's ninth hole is the most well known though, mainly for the island green. In addition to the water, there are also four bunkers surrounding the green.

This course is a neighborhood gem.
Wished I lived close, I would volunteer to do clean up and raking. This could be a great practice course.

Needs a lot of work.
If you just want to knock it around a bit after the winter, it's ok. But too bad there is no pride in ownership. A little water, fertilizer, and raking of the traps do wonders.

Complete Mess
Have visited Shalimar many times over the years , has the potential for nice , fun layout , but is in complete disarray now, needs new ownership & TLC! Nothing on grounds is being taken care of fairways , greens , water , sand traps trees , tee boxes , big fat zero on maintenance & landscape ! It’s sad & too bad ownership didn’t care to run it better : l( Having to leave your drivers license for cart rental is ridiculous response to theft problem

Not worth the money
Not well maintained. And it was not cheap. Rented clubs that were like mallets hitting the ball. Very disappointing.

Golf
Played it yesterday, greens fair to bad, fairways fair to bad, everything else is falling apart. No rough just plain dirt. I would not recommend this for the price we payed. Needs a lot of maintenance help!

Lower Your Expectations
You get what you pay for here. If you're just looking to knock the rust off your game then this course may be fine. The greens were OK but much of the rest is in rough shape. If your ball strays off the fairway a bit you'll likely have a bare, hardpan lie. Also, the driving range had very little grass on the designated tee areas on the day we played. Having said all that, we only paid $37 for 2 players with a cart. The staff was quite friendly, but I'd hesitate to pay much more here.

Not Your Typical 9
Just give it a chance.. it’s a challenging short course. If you par ( or better ) EVERY hole in your round - you’ve accomplished something. Good Family Atmosphere.

Worst course EVER!
This was my husband and my first time playing here since we are snowbirds and are able to play many different courses. The course was unbelievably badly manicured, and I use that term loosely, badly marked pins and no easy paths to follow from hole to hole. The worst part was the price of this course, that also shares the fairways to frisbee golf! The price should not have exceeded $20. We will NEVER play here again, nor will we be recommending this course to all our fellow golfers and many friends we golf with down here!
Steer clear of this waste of space!!
