West at Eagle Valley Golf Course
About
The West Course at Eagle Valley Golf Course winds through the Carson City foothills at the base of the Eastern Sierra. The links-style layout features an interesting variety of holes that provide a formidable test for even the most advanced players. The fairways are lined with native desert vegetation that grows tall enough to provide some challenge and several water hazards are strategically placed throughout. The dramatic elevation changes in the rolling landscape also require forced carries. Accuracy is vital to doing well on the golf course, offering a true risk-and-reward experience. For golfers wanting a more relaxed round, Eagle Valley offers the less daunting East Course.

Fun course
Very fun course had a great time! However, only issues we had were the bartenders were very unfriendly! We did not like that not feel comfortable
Golf Value
Can't be this course for money. If you're near Carson City, go play it. You won't be disappointed. Good pace of play and lots of nice course architecture and challenges for the intermediate to advanced golfer. East side for beginners with more room off the fairway.
Eagle Valley West
Pretty Good Condition. Good pace if play. Happy with the experience.
Very fun course to play. All variety of holes- tough and easy.
Little slow. There were a few groups out there that were not keeping up. Wish there would have been a marshal out there, but can't really expect one during the winter months.
Overall it is a great place to play for a reasonable price.
Interesting golf course
Course was in good shape. The fairways and bunkers were maintained and the greens were firm and smooth.
Course has some interesting holes with forced carries that can be tough with the wind blowing.
A very good value at the "hot deal" price.
Good layout
Be sure to book the west course. Maintenance was fair but certainly playable. Good value.
This course had delayed start time, dead cart issues. Snakes!
Several issues: 1) The tee time was delayed for twenty minutes due to a lack of carts. 2) During the round the cart died twice. The first time it was replaced within fifteen minutes. However, the second time the cart failed, the pro shop failed to respond and we limped through the last five holes. This made for a long and painful round. 3) RATTLE SNAKES ABOUND! Beware! Saw one rattler at the starter's shack and one dead one near the 12th hole. Play at your own risk!
Nice Layout at a Reasonable Price in Carson Valley
Eagle Valley West Course is a challenging but fair course with a variety of hole layouts for fun and competitive play. The diversity of the course design keeps your attention. A great test for a middle degree of difficulty course.
moderately difficult
Nice use of elevation. Fairways are pretty wide and the water and bunkers are not devilish.
Fun course to play!
The west course is very fun to play, has some challenging holes. We booked the tee time on GolfNow.com which gave us a great discounted rate on green fees. We also played the east course, if you want a more interesting lay-out, play the west course.
EAGLE (FRIKIN) VALLEY "WEST"
CAN'T WAIT TILL NEXT YEAR!
TOO SMOKIE FROM THE "RIM FIRE", STILL HAD A GREAT TIME
Sad looking course, won't go back
My husband and I played the West course and were very disappointed. We have played all over the Reno area and a lot of people with whom we played highly recommended Eagle Valley West; we were told it is very challenging, all the tees and/or greens are elevated, the fairways are undulating and rolling, the greens are very undulating.
I checked in and asked if it were possible to go out early if the course was not busy. The kid behind the counter said the West course was closed for maintenance and we would have to wait. Not a problem, we went to the range to warm up. The range balls are very old and used that they didn't fly at all, don't waste your money.
After warming up we were told the maintenance on the West course was complete and we could go; we did get to go out about 20 minutes earlier than scheduled, which we greatly appreciated.
When we got to the first tee box guess what we saw - a course full of carts and people playing golf! There was no maintenance being done, the kid in the pro shop flat out lied to us. Both my husband and I were very upset that this kid lied to us, all the kid had to say was no, the course is full and you will have to wait until your scheduled tee time please.
Neither my husband or I could figure out what all the fuss is about this course. We found it to be flat with a few elevated tees and greens, and some rolling fairway. There is nothing asthetically pleasing to the eye about this course - it is very bland and ho-hum. There is a lot of scrub and weeds and who knows what else, the bunkers are rock hard, parts of the fairways are burnt out.
The staff in the pro shop was somewhere between dismissive and cordial, the feeling I got was "pay, play, and leave"; I didn't feel welcomed at all. There is too much competition in the Reno/Carson area to play a course such as this. Sadly, Eagle Valley has lost our business.
I can't tell you what the East course is like but from what I saw it is very flat and has a lot of burned out fairways.
Entertaining and Challenging Course
I really enjoy playing this course with one caveat,......the last two times I played there, our cart broke down (bad wire), given a "fresh cart" then had to get another one......and the second time our cart died after 9 holes....attendant says they were told new carts coming for last 3 months since he started.....the staff was very accommodating and made up for the hassle with a couple of free beers.....I am easily bought! :)
Great Value, Tough Course
Played Eagle Valley for $10 off GolfNow. Course is challenging. Greens are in good shape. Certain fairways are dry but for $10 you cannot beat the deal.
Great value for the money!
The greens was in very good condition, some fairways was little dry, overall the course was in good condition. The 15th hole, par 5, if you have not played this course, this hole layout is gimmicky and unfair.
Great course with excellent views
Challenging course with varying terrain. Excellent value for the money and friendly staff.
Fun and pretty well maintained but windy
Pretty fun course that was in good shape for mid-August. Only annoyances were huge flocks of geese and their feathers that look like balls, and the powerful wind gusts that frequent the area.
Challenging muni, great value.
Challenging muni, if you can keep it in play you can score, if not bring some balls. Greens are good, restaurant is mediocre. If you want something more docile, play the east course.
Watch for wind.
The majority of the course plays uphill. What made it even more challenging was the wind. As I'm not a long hitter, the uphill and wind made the course longer. I was glad to take advantage on a few of the holes that played with the wind. Greens were excellent and a few of the fairways had standing water (fairways were being watered during my round). Overall, great experience.
