West at Eagle Valley Golf Course
About
The West Course at Eagle Valley Golf Course winds through the Carson City foothills at the base of the Eastern Sierra. The links-style layout features an interesting variety of holes that provide a formidable test for even the most advanced players. The fairways are lined with native desert vegetation that grows tall enough to provide some challenge and several water hazards are strategically placed throughout. The dramatic elevation changes in the rolling landscape also require forced carries. Accuracy is vital to doing well on the golf course, offering a true risk-and-reward experience. For golfers wanting a more relaxed round, Eagle Valley offers the less daunting East Course.

Fun day
Fun course I good shape. Pace of play was good.
Breakfast sandwich was excellent
Fun course
Very challenging course but fair. Need to play it a couple of times to understand the nuances of the course. The people who complained about the shooting range are probably the same ones who complain when a bird tweets when they putt. I only heard the shooting when I was on the green and it was not a problem at all. I really liked the long par 5, I had to play position because I had no chance to get there in 2. I would play it again next time I am in The Reno area.
Flat but interesting.
I thought the course was interesting, but flat. I think the grounds people were trying to keep the course in good shape, but there has been a lack of rain in the area causing some portions of the fairways to be burned out.. The pace of play was excellent [3 1/2 hours].The staff was very friendly and accommodating.
A sleeper
Things started out a little iffy because we were behind a shotgun tournament. But pace of play was not horrible and things really picked up once the tournament ended.
The first few holes were fairly plain, but once the course turned uphill really became interesting. Plus Carson City is one of the best places to play golf in Nevada if you want to get away from all the bright lights big city stuff of Reno and Vegas.
Great test of golf in great shape
Great challenge, fast greens, great shape! Very enjoyable round.
Women's Tee's
Fore,
My husband and I had a wonderful time in 50 degree temperatures. We were staying at the Hyatt and Eagle
Valley was a surprise - no snow and conditions were perfect. Because we are from California, we were impressed with the luscious greens.
Don't hesitate to play Eagle Valley - it's a rare find in Carson City.
IF YOU HAVEN'T
I'm a 30 handicap trying to improve. This course was an excellent challenge in great shape. I managed a 103. Great terrain, beautiful views, wildlife. We managed to play through in 3.5 hours. I will definitely be back. Look for deals on Golfnow.com
Challenging for novice player
I enjoyed the elevation change of the course and found the holes to be challenging for the senior player.
Great value
This is a very scenic course with a very interesting and fun layout. The rough is very long, so sacrifice distance for accuracy...only gripe is that the geese have literally taken over a coule of the holes, almost making them unplayable...
a good deal
had a great time. Players were very courteous and pace was good. weather was nice and conditions on course were excellent. will definitely be back
well worth the money!
Other then pace of play being bad everythingnelse was great. Paid $20 and it was a steal for that price. Greens were fast and well kept up. Rough and fairways both nice. Layout was challenging but if you kept ball in play you can score. Overall a great place for a cheap price.
Good day of golf
Straight forward tees, that if not paying attention, will lead to a long second shot. The greens are a little fast with right to left/left to right turns you might only see after you miss the putt and look at it closely.
If you like hidden challenges, give this a try. Down hill putts with a slight bump in front to slow the ball down just enough. You will see when it happens. Good course.
Like the layout
Played this course a lot I like the layout, there is more winter kill on the greens than most of the surrounding courses. The weather was nice except for the wind which is one of the hazards of the course. My biggest complaint of this deal was the 3.50 dollar juice that's 17% of what I paid. Used to be 2 dollars and free after you booked 10 tee offs, I guess those days are gone and I'm back to calling the courses for specials before I book anything.
Good value
Weather was great and course was in good shape considering the draught season we're in the middle of. Would recommend this course to anyone.
Eagle valley west
34 bucks online. Can't beat it Course in ok early season condition. Still green.
Average for a muni
Poorly run and managed. One 18 was closed for the day so everything backed up on the other. No Marshall that was effective.
This course has excellent greens
Great course great price!! Staff was AWESOME. Some challenging holes keeps it interesting looking forward to playing there again.
Fun track
Fun track...lots of locals..."Muni" mentality...
4some in front of us complained about us joining with another 2some in front of them...
Fun day though...never saw the 4some again..
Friendly staff in Pro shop and Bar area...
worth the drive down from Reno !!!
Codger Central
Had to quit at the turn because it was so slow. Played alone and had two holes open in front of me but hit a brick wall of two codger foursomes who were not going to let me play through...fortunately I was able to loop back and play holes five and six three more times (total of six extra holes) to give me some space, but I still caught them on the 9th tee box. Figured they would have let me through at the turn, but no. Total time to play the front: 2:42
All in all, the course is forgiving and well maintained for the winter, but not worth the cost...much better courses in the Carson area for less money.
And take your range finder with you...yardages are not clearly marked.
Excellent course
Greens were perfect couldn't get any better soft receptive and rolled true. fairways in great condition and the ruff not too deep the only thing is the bunkers were not like sand but hard pan not once out of 5 sand shots did I ever get the results that I wanted the club would bounce off the sand then skull the ball. Please find a fix for the sand
Beautiful true bent greens. Very soft greens that hold shots well. The landing areas are small and accuracy is important in the fairway. The greens are large and as true bent they role perfect, no weird roles like you get of hybrid grasses that has become so prominent in golf.
I don't recommend this course for below average or beginning players. We played a neighborhood tournament there and it was just to difficult for most all of the golfers. Balls that miss the fairway and short cut fairway. are normally unplayable
