About
Empire Ranch Golf Course, situated in the picturesque Carson Valley, features 27 holes of golf that overlook the Carson River. Located just minutes from downtown Carson City, Empire Ranch's three individual nines offer three different 18-hole combinations that have a convenient location but still provide a challenging golf getaway. The Comstock/River layout features lakes and wetlands coming into play throughout. The fairways are also well guarded by strategically placed bunkers. It provides a fair test, but the golf course is forgiving enough for beginning and intermediate players. In addition to the three courses, Empire Ranch also offers extensive practice facilities and a staff of PGA Professionals who can provide golf instruction.

For the price it’s just OK
At $35 for an early tee time it’s hard to be too rough on the course, But the condition leaves a lot to be desired. I am aware they’re still recovering from a flood a number of years ago but the greens & fairways are in really poor shape. Combine this with the extremely long rough in some areas makes for a unfair feeling challenge.

Good course, great staff, but not great condition
We (wife & I) golf at Empire Ranch several times a year. We enjoy the friendly staff, the course layout is challenging but fair, and it usually isn’t too crowded. Today we had a slower round than usual due to a crowded course, which was manageable, but the course itself is in really rough shape right now, disappointing for so early in the summer. Several greens are just in awful shape, apparently due to some kind of disease or fungus ; making it worse was the holes were cut in the middle of the mess, instead of away from it. Some fairways are also already showing signs of stress, apparently due to s lack of water. Although we made the best of it and had an enjoyable enough round, we can’t in good conscience recommend Empire Ranch right now.

Course needs TLC
Great track for the price. The fairways were in poor condition and the greens were shaggy and very slow. But for the price and considering my wife is a new golfer it’s a great bargain for us to get out and play. Could be a great little course if the conditions were improved.

Last Choice in Carson City
Saturday Morning. Nothing had been cut. Greens where furry and slow. The rough was the longest grass I have seen on a course, maybe ever. I am talking the rough right off the fringe. Easily 4 to 6 inches or more. Very unfriendly course conditions.

Pleasantly surprised
I wasn’t expecting too much about the course conditions given that there had been snow not long ago. I was pleasantly surprised. The course wasn’t in great condition but it was in good condition given the time of year. The pace of play was fast and the people at the course were very friendly. I would definitely recommend it.

Good, not great. Lots of forgiveness off the tee. 30% bad spots, greens and Fairways.

18 holes and a cart for 20 bucks is great for us beginners
A lot of the greens were marginal, and there was a stink on the back 9, probably the swamp :-{
It's good to have a course to play that's inexpensive for golfers that aren't very good.

Good course for the price.
Good course for the price, some time people are a little pushy, not the staff but the players. That can't be helped. Over all a good place to go.

I like the ambiance
The course Is not in good shape could be it’s early n the season.. The greens are terrible, old holes patching is not even with the surrounding grounds
I still had a good time with my friend.
The price is right and I will be back.
If you’re a golf purist, don’t go. If you are out to have a good time and the condition of the course doesn’t matter. Go for it.

Greens were pretty bad, but still a nice day for golf.

Great Deal
For the money I played this course via TeeOff / Golf Now Annual Pass, this was a great deal.
The course still needs some TLC but is otherwise in good shape and a great deal for the online discounted deals.

Greens dry and sanded, carts were good, plenty of bathrooms on course, , no water coolers on course, no score cards/ map in cart
We’re played 9 holes and stopped at club house at 230 pm and grill was closed. Lady there said we could get chix tenders and onion rings- those were great. Thank you man
