About
Empire Ranch Golf Course, situated in the picturesque Carson Valley, features 27 holes of golf that overlook the Carson River. Located just minutes from downtown Carson City, Empire Ranch's three individual nines offer three different 18-hole combinations that have a convenient location but still provide a challenging golf getaway. The Comstock/River layout features lakes and wetlands coming into play throughout. The fairways are also well guarded by strategically placed bunkers. It provides a fair test, but the golf course is forgiving enough for beginning and intermediate players. In addition to the three courses, Empire Ranch also offers extensive practice facilities and a staff of PGA Professionals who can provide golf instruction.

Great Day
Course was in great shape and everyone at the course was friendly and helpful. Drink girl offered to take our picture - nice touch!
Don’t even bother
Bad conditions, swampy due to the course location, tee boxes missing markers in many holes, fairways a complete mess, cart paths not maintained, signage missing, concrete broken up it looks to me it’s just a lack of money to fund course maintenance.. It’s really a shame as this could be an ok course if maintained , but it’s a complete mess with 1 exception…the greens were ok. Many better courses to play in the area.

Worst I’ve ever played on
I’ve played about 30 courses, This was a special deal , so I figured let’s give it a shot. 1st problem, May of the signs are down, or limited in info, Hard to tell where to drive to, Tee boxes missing blocks, yardage markers, few if any, Out of bounds not marked, The course is pretty soggy, which just may be due to the location, not over watering. The attached Pic was an actual fairway, not off to the side. The highlight was the greens which were in good condition, and there was a cart gal with some refreshments. This course could be nice, but I sense there is a lack of funds to really do good maintenance. The Pro shop has balls and shirts, and a few clubs, the restaurant has a bar and serves food until 2 PM, then happy hour menu.

Pace was atrocious.
Course is in pretty good condition but need to get a Marshall out to keep a decent pace. Pace was about 15-20 minutes per hole.

Course was decent
The course was decent but the mosquitoes were absolutely relentless and you can’t get away from them even with spray!

The maintenance to this course is endless,they do a great job keeping us to Play golf,you need to hit straight or lots of trouble,so fun,need to play a few times to bring out your best score

Empire is Worth Playing Again!
Empire has recovered dramatically since the last time I play there. It has suffered flood & drought damage in the past, but it is now in much better condition. A couple of fairways are a bit thin, but improving. They are out there watering mid day to keep the grass cool during this hot spell & it seems to be working! There were few people in the course when we played so pace was fast!

Too Many Mosquitoes
Not the fault of the property owners, but the mosquitoes were plentiful and looking for customers. To be expected given the location near the river and water on the course. However, be sure to bring bug repellent to the course!!!

Mosquito were terrible! Bring bug spray. Fairways were hard to make out from the tee box. I would play again

Greens are sweet, but…
Right price. Right place. The course needs attention. Fairways have a lot of dead pan and weeds. But the greens are sweet and in great shape. throughout the course the pathways have lots of buckled and cracked concrete. Overall, the courses is showing its age and could use some yardwork, maybe the owner could take better care of it and should revitalize it.
Oh, bring bug spray.

Nice course
The course was a nice course to play. Very nice staff
Played a non finished course
There was a tournament and it allowed us too book. The gentleman who checked us in was not pleased that we were there. Repeatedly kept telling us we shouldn’t have been able to book, but we were there .

Fun Course for a Quick Round
The greens were in good condition and subtly, and some not so subtly, difficult. The fairways were ok. The rough was pretty patchy, but understandable as it's just starting spring here.
Enjoyed it. Staff and other players were very nice. Definitely earned a replay.
