Sunridge Golf Club
About
Located justhalf-hour drive from both Lake Tahoe and Reno, Sunridge Golf Club features monster holes and mammoth lakes. The 669-yards par 5 11th - the longest hole in the scenic High Sierras region and then some - draws your attention as soon as you look at the scorecard. But the 26 acres of water on the golf course will probably provide more challenge and thrills.
There's also a hole with a 300-foot drop from the tee to the fairway (No. 14), a tiny par 3 19th bet-decider hole and a ton of driveable par 4s that almost beg for you to go for it. As a bonus, Sunridge Golf Club's green fees wow many vacationers used to Tahoe pricing.

dandelions
ok this is the second time I played the course got to finish this time the first time I was with a friend whose wife called every 15 minutes to see when he was going to be back home to take care of the dogs.
this time the 14 th. hole was open. this course is a diamond in the rough. the down side is all the dandelions I would suggest that management give a discount of 10 dollars if the players bring a sack of weed and feed good carts and a challenging lay out
Don't waste your time or money
Dandelions 6 inches high covering every fairway. Mickey Mouse Layout. Pulled off after 9 holes. Payed $29 bucks. Not worth .29 cents. Lady manager was nice though and said I could play 27 holes for price of 18. I chose to leave after 9 holes instead. It was that horrible!!
Lots of potential not very well maintained
This course is interesting because the front 9 was relatively flat with a nice mix of rolling hills and lots of water hazards which makes it challenging. The back nine was a lot of fun elevated tee shots, lots of hills and really nice views. The fairways and greens were not very well maintained. There's lots of overgrown vegetation and 3-4 inch tall dandelions in the fairways and the rough, making it difficult to see your ball. Also the water hazards were disgusting, algae and murky waters, look like a breeding ground for insects. Overall the pace of play was good, the staff was friendly and we had a good time at a good price.
Do It !
I Love this course. You can't beat the views, beautifully laid out course, challenging. If you see a deal here, TAKE IT ! You can't rent a cart at most places for $15 !
Great course for the money
I got a Hot Deal special and it was well worth it. Got windy on the back 9 and made the course a lot more challenging. Bunkers needed work and lots of water, bring an extra sleeve of balls.
Good Round
Played a good round for me. Not ground was soft in places but not so soft your feet got wet. A little wait toward the end but pace of play was good.
Early in the season, needs works, has potential, lots of water, back nine is challenging, you get what you pay for, a dam good time!
Many lost balls
Lots of altitude changes on the course. There are also several blind shots, make it easy to lose your ball. Still, it is a rather exciting course.
Views awesome challenging course too
The course was fun and challenging. Beautiful views and lots of water hazards than I am used to. Highly recommend playing.
Just try the course!
We had heard this was a difficult course. It really was not all that bad. I would not recommend it for a senior or someone out of shape. The back nine had big altitude changes (nose bleeds) but fun.
I would play it again.
Scenic; budget priced; but only fair course conditions
This is my favorite budget priced course in the area (assuming all 18 holes are open). Some tough challenging scenic holes along hilly terrain, with some short par 3's but with difficult carries over the scrub brush. Greens recently punched and sandy, but reasonably playable. All 18 holes open, with bonus 19th par 3 as well. Fairways only in fair condition, some had tight lies, though in the past I've seen them in much worst shape. 14th hole fairway mostly GUR, but at least this scenic signature hole was open for the first time in the last three years I've made the trip out here.
Wow!,
Green were being punched so we could only play the back nine which we could play twice. Fairly difficult for the average play. No.14 is elevated and overlooks the entire valley. It was sharply downhill for the next four holes. We enjoyed playing it once but chose not to play it again. Quite an adventure!
Need a starter
We were told when we checked in that only the back was open, & it was just aerated yesterday, so we could play it twice to get in our 18 holes. 3 groups were all on the first (10th) tee box at our starting time, & it took us 4 hrs to finish the round as we waited on every hole.
Great time!!!
Showed up at 10:am for an 11:20 tee time and went right on the course. Course was in good shape, the greens were a little spotty but didn't affect your putts, the traps could use more sand though. Loved the layout...front nine lots of water holes and you need a range finder to let you know where the edges of the water are in some instances. The back 9 was a blast!! Water holes and then elevated tees boxes hitting down into canyons or across canyons. Purists probably complain but for a recreational golfer(17 hdcp) it was a lot of fun. Will definitely play here again and bringing some friends with me. It can be windy but we were extremely lucky that day with no wind to speak of. Great course with great rates!!!
Landscaping and play
The course was in great shape for public course. Front nine was long but not overly difficult. The back nine was challenging and exciting. Great course layout for the area. Actually under priced for the play you get. Clubhouse could stand to be better but staff was Great!!
Water and mountains
Lots of water in the valley with some high tee boxes hitting to lower greens in the mountains, especially with 14 open for play. Greens can be challenging and the green's grass can be in poor condition. Management can be stingy with carts and require strangers to ride together when adding individuals to a tee time.
Good Value and challenging course
Front nine has a lot of water hazards. Back 9 had big elevation changes. Nice view of valley from 16th hole.
See picture.
Course provides booklet describing each hole. Definitely need rangefinder to avoid water hazard and out of bounds. Need to play for position.
No 19th hole
Sunridge - Wet and Dry
The greens were rock hard, and the fairways and some of the rough and sand traps were soaked. Strange layout on back nine - four consecutive trips up the hill to elevated tees. Some nice vistas. Nice variety of tees. Woman in pro shop was doing double duty as snack shop person. She handled everything with humor.
On the upswing
I've been playing this course 4 or 5 times a year for the past 5 years. Its too tough for the average golfer, but with my 21 handicap, I can usually score in the low 90's with a couple blow-up holes. I always look forward to going there as its an easy drive from Stateline where I reside. This round on July 25, 2016 was excellent, as I found the greens and fairways in the best condition of the past 2 years, and the 14th hole, which has been out of service for several years has been repaired! With continued excellent maintenance of the fairways and tee boxes, it should get to a five star rating from me.
