very enjoyable Sunday golf outing!
I rarely have an opportunity to play golf on Sunday, but found a great price and tee time on Golf Now for Los Lagos for this past Sunday. I signed up as a single, but picked up with a couple of guys since most of the players in front of us were foursomes. The pace was for the most part OK, but can't expect fast play on a weekend. Overall, had an enjoyable afternoon on a course I hadn't played in over a year! The course condition was in very good shape considering the amount of traffic it sees daily, and challenging enough for my skill level!
good course
The course is in good condition for our "drought"
I enjoy playing this course and play regularly.
The only negative is the food service, it is always slow and the person working the register is always in slow motion and just doesn't seem to care.
Review
Nice open course with tough bunkers and pin placements. Challenge for short game, forgiving on drives. Significant number of par 3s
Short but fun
This is a short but entertaining course. Many 3 par holes and a long 5 par finishing hole. Greens in decent condition and roll true. Fairways were in good shape except for a couple of small spots. Played with friendly people and had a relaxing Saturday game. F & B is very average but service is fine. I didn't notice any rest rooms on the course. Might be inconvenient for some.
Overall it's worth a round.
Very Good Condition
The course was in very good condition considering the drought conditions and compared to other courses in the area. Keeping in mind that Los Lagos is a short course, it a good one to play for the more intermediate to beginning golfer. I usually go for a quick round to tune my short game and get my rhythm back after a layoff.
Very green and lush greens are good shape with tricky breaks that you don't see
Course is in great shape everything is green no dead grass whatsoever
Very good condition
There was a large girls tournament ahead of us, so it was a little slow . The course was in very good condition, and I have been playing there since it opened.
Very nice staff
From the proshop staff to the snack bar people, everyone was very friendly and helpful.
I guess "regulars" get good treatment.
Firstly, about the reservation gave away my tee time: Upon checking in the person at the counter informed me they GAVE AWAY MY TEE TIME! I arrived minutes early. They told me the threesome wanted to have a friend join them to become a foursome. They went on to say, we will try to get you out. No free range balls, nothing offered for the inconvenience. I Golf Now!
They did get me out as I joined a twosome about minutes late.
One note: Beware of the local tamed foxes that will steal food and your phone out of your cart. The course should warn you about them, but they don't.
Pace of play: Horrible in the first nine. Two beginners, two experienced, 2 1/2 hours to play nine that should have taken no longer than two considering the length and number of par 3's. Marshalls drove right by without stopping.
Course: Green were fast and firm, fairways had been aerated and the dirt plugs were all over the place on the par 4's and 5's.
Don't waste your money here. 50 buck on Golf Now, for a few more bucks you can play a real course like Cinnabar or Coyote Creek. Leave this course for beginners and the staff favorites.
Reasonable coarse asocial San Jose
Greens were in Spectacular condition. Pace of play was a crawl. San Jose Golfers seem asocial. The number of two somes was incredible. No one seems willing to play with one another. As a single I played with a three some for nine holes then they stopped. Very nice folks but then I was to pair with Two groups of two who wanted to be alone. It really causes the coarse to play slowly.
Great Deal
Course was in really good condition. greens were hard and fast....good putting conditions, bunkers suspect....thick, thin, wet....but overall I would give it a 4 out of 5 stars and will be going back....good driving range as well.
Greg
Par 3 heavy
I liked this course, but there are too many holes that are very similar. I felt like every par 3 was 145-155 yd due to pin placement and tee box. I don't play in San Jose very often, but the rate was higher than it should be.
Same Old Dogs "Hound" This Course
Well maintained but the pace of play has been, is and will probably continue to plague this place. When you couple lots of beginners with lots of environmentally sensitive hazards and the throw in two long, meaningless walks from different parts of the course, this is what your going to get unfortunately. A re-routing of the order of holes (and starting on what's now hole #10) would reduce the bridge crossings from two to one would save 15 minutes or more off each round, although I calculate you'd be back at the clubhouse making the turn after 10 holes rather than 9.
Overall excellent condition but the pace of play is concerning.
Greens Immaculate!!!!
The greens were fantastic. True roll to the break you see, consistent, and challenging. The fairways were in very good shape, except Hole #6 (Par 5) there were a lot of bare spots. It's too bad because it is a very nice hole with water on the right. I like this course a lot...I just wish it did not have 9 par-3's. It is still a great course to practice your short, and mid-irons off of the tees on the par-3's. Play can be somewhat slow at times. What left a bit of a damper on our round was that there was a 5-some in front of us, and one of those people was eating flower seeds, and spitting the shells on the greens near the every hole.
Short and fun
Course in great condition. Played from white tees and was fun challenging.

great course. great pace of play. really fun course to play.
Playing Los Lagos
We enjoyed the 18 holes of play and pace was good, completed in 3 1/2 hrs. Weather was great and wild life was fun to watch.
I'm not the only fox on the green.
A very nice course. On the front nine there's a couple of holes facing the sun in the morning whichaked it hard to hit thf ball.
Also, there was a fox that stole my granola base. Harmless and cute and not afraid of humans so just be csreful.

Los Lagos was a wonderful surprise,, Expected mud but course was in very good shape after the heavy rains,,
Tee boxes nice, fairways very good, rough was lush and punishing,, greens were the best, fast, smooth and true. They will be even better in a month,
Plan to play there often this year !
