Blackmoor Golf Club, a Gary Player Signature course, was built on the historic Longwood Plantation, whose heritage as an antebellum rice plantation along the majestic Waccamaw River accounts for much of its charm. The 18 championship holes feature flowing lakes, moss-draped oaks, lofty pines, and ever changing cypress. Attention to detail is noticeable from tee to green. For cold-weather play, the course is kept green from tree line to tree line to give a refreshing view for those from snow-covered northern climates. Unparalleled fairways focus your attention on one hole at a time. Be sure to study Blackmoor's course layout, since several blind shots to the green will challenge your perception.

Great golf horrible pace of play

Course was in great condition despite heavy rain the day before. Greens were a touch slow but ran true. Can't complain about the course layout or friendliness of the staff. Downgraded to four stars when it would have otherwise been five because the pace of play was inexcusable. And it doesn't matter if you got out first thing in the morning because they go off both teess. Had a 7:30 tee time and my foursome played the front nine in an hour and 45 minutes, but once we made the turn we ran into a wall. Took us three and a half hours to play the back nine for a 5-hour round. Not a ranger in site. When we got to the fourth hole, a par 3, there were three groups on the tee box. I'm on vacation so made the best of it and played great, love the course but if you trying to get a quick round in that is not good.

Fun course with a decent layout that forces a few interesting decisions. Greens weren't great, but not necessarily bad either. Only issue would be what seemed to be double booking. Had to wait 30+min to start and then 10-15min on the tee box of each hole.

Slow play.

Front was good starting first thing in the morning. But making the turn was a joke trying to fit in to the tee times booked on the backside. Double booking causes slow play.

Holy doglegs

There were way too many dog leg holes. I was only able to use driver on 3-4 holes. The greens were in okay condition, lots of sand in the front 9. Fairways were average and rough was terrible. For $65+ this course was below average and not worth the money. Staff was very friendly.

We liked it

Real quick: Some sloppy tee boxes. Greens are still healing from being punched (all of the greens). Fun layout. Fairly simple greens. Make sure to tip the bev chick.

Not recommended

Not worth the money. Greens had been punched recently. Very thin fairways. Rough was not in good shape. Played wizard the day before. Hands down, 100 times better value.

Course needed water

I realize the summer climate in SC can be harsh, But more attention for watering needs to be priority number 1.

We had a great day despite the heat! Probably would play again! Thanks
