Eagle Nest Golf Club
About
Located in Little River, S.C., Eagle Nest opened in 1971 and was designed by Golf Course Architect Gene Hamm. The layout is laid out across 250 acres of gently rolling land, rare for a course near Myrtle Beach. The course has been upgraded recently and includes a set of "Perch" tee boxes that play over 8,100 yards, making it the state's longest golf course.
Super senior and player-friendly tee boxes up front have also been installed. This traditional low country layout features not only rolling undulations in it but mature Carolina pines, an abundance of wildlife and beautiful natural landscaping.

Great shape
The greens are fast…. fairways are still dead grass, but early in the season
Great bang for the buck
Nice layout tucked about half a mile off 17 highway. Great design and greens were in awesome shape. Only mild pet peeves were the cart GPS didn't work and there are almost no yardage markers on the course except the 150 poles, so it made distances a little harder to judge. But for a Sunday, the rates were very good and would play again.
Another great round but I lost a club!?!
This has become one of my regular stops when I am in the Myrtle Beach area for work or play.
As usual the course was in good condition and detailed attention was being paid to the greens. The new driving range seems to be completed (or near completion) and it should be awesome come spring 2023.
Unfortunately, due to over excitement at having made a great shot, I ended up leaving my PW on the side of the green. In its day it was an expensive club (15 years ago) but it has little value now. It baffles me that someone would not turn a club in...I even turn in ball markers if/when I find them. This has no reflection on the course or the staff...they still have my name and club on a 'missing' sheet.
I am so looking forward to head back to 'the nest' in a month or so. It will be great to hit a bucket of balls on the newly designed range!
New GPS elec carts
The carts with gps help with distances but also shut down on cart path only, tees and greens
Nice new gos carts
They got the electric carts now, very nice, but they block cart path only etc shuts cart off and alerts the pro shop, course held up after two day frost.
Lousy attitudes
Where to begin? The grumpy pro shop lady was clearly upset at having to work on Christmas Day. She told me on the phone play would start at 10 - 10:15 am due to a hard freeze but this changed to 11:15 am when I got to the course. This I get due to the temps. However she said we couldn’t walk because “walkers slow play down.,” which is bogus. On the phone she said we could walk. She was mean and rude and clearly didn’t want to be there. I went to the snack bar to try to buy a snack and soda but the card machine was not working. The lady there said it would take 10 minutes to process a basic transaction. Fed up with the poor customer service and antiquated facilities, we left for Azalea Sands, the only other course open for Christmas. We will never play Eagle Nest again and would urge others to avoid this black hole of Grand Strand Golf.
December golf at eagle nest
Course was in good shape weather cooperated and was surprised there weren't more golfers. Very good value for the money. Staff was courteous.
Pre Thanksgiving round
Greens were slower than putting green. Course was a little wet. Greens rolled true. Played with nice folks from Ontario
