Augustine Golf Club
About
Carved from Stafford County's rolling, emerald green hills, Augustine Golf Club plays across a scenic landscape abundant with mature pines and hardwoods. The pristine white bunkers and the lush fairways contrast nicely with the trees. The course conveniently sits just 30 miles from the Washington Beltway. In 2011 when the golf course was acquired by Raspberry Golf Management, who are responsible for several courses in the area, Augustine underwent major renovations that increased its playability. The greens, fairways, rough, bunkers, and tee boxes were all redone. The layout offers a challenge but is gentle enough for beginners to approach with confidence. Included in a round of golf at Augustine are range balls and unlimited use of the driving range, which has different targets and a large putting green.

Course
We appreciated the opportunity to play golf on such a beautiful course with the all the fears and restrictions that we are all experiencing at this time in our country. The recommendations and guidelines implemented by club management to ensure the safety and health of the players were excellent while enabling avid golfers to still enjoy their favorite activity. Courses that have closed during this time are missing out on a great opportunity to provide our communities with an excellent venue to enjoy an outside activity that allows for a good amount of physical activity and enjoyment. We plan to play this course again soon. Thanks. Bill
Don't Play Augustine GC in April, 2020
I regret to have to recommend that you don't play Augustine GC in April, 2020 as there is NO GRASS on any of the fairway, the greens were aerated in early April and are mostly sand and they won't tell you any of this unless you ask. Most golfers know this is a Bermuda grass course but they usually over seed in the spring and fall to make it playable. They aren't doing that now and you will find you will be hitting the ball off of essentially dirt and a small amount of dead grass. And because VA has the only golf courses open during the pandemic, they charged us $75 on a weekend and we still had to pay $10 for range balls! Simply not honest or fair. Regrets, G. Colton
Course was in Surpisingly Good Condition
I was pleasantly surprised that the course was in such good condition. It has been five years or more since I played it, and I had heard that the fairways were fine but the greens were not. We had to play the front nine twice because the greens on the back nine were being aerated. The front nine greens had been aerated recently. Nevertheless, for the most part the greens rolled fairly true, and given a little time should be great. Because of the coronavirus, each player had his own cart. While we were disappointed that we couldn't play the back nine, overall we had a very enjoyable and safe round.
Good local course
Enjoy this course for its challenging holes but the greens are in rough condition and desperately need attention. Great staff ... I look forward to returning later in the season and hopefully better greens.
Course Review
The layout of the course was very well done, and overall the course was great. The water features were great, and the fairways were excellent. The only exception was when I returned and played again in October, the greens were very poor and full of divots. The divots were so prevalent and there were so many of them even 5 foot putts were nearly impossible due to the unpredictability of the greens.
This course has gone way downhill. Greens were a little better than they were 2 months ago but still really bad(I understand it’s December). Not a single ball wash terminal on the course. Staff was great as usual
Used to be real. Ice course but for now, Check the Review before you go play. !
I like this course. Layout is nice, challenging but not too hard.
Used to be in a great condition then, good, then ok, now, hmmmmm.
It is winter season but the way the greens are now is no excuse since other courses are in fair to very good shape.
Yes, there’s lots of leaves but that’s other courses too but missing chunks of green isn’t something I wasn’t expecting.
Fellow golfers, check the recent reviews from others before booking, or call pro shop.
Don’t make the same mistake as I did.
Go play when it gets recovered, and that would take some times.
At least not much of leaves on fairway, so that was nice.
Aging course, on the brink of repair or failure...
This is a good course and has been for some time. It once had the allure of a country club, but while it still appears and tries to act like one, it's very much just another course. Getting to the main of it, the greens are a mess, the sand traps haven't been raked this year and chunks of underlayment are sticking up everywhere. If not for the beauty of the course and the overall mild difficulty, I'd say stay away. I also wouldn't pay full price. If you didn't get a coupon or an online discount it just isn't worth the money. They tried new management a few years back and that helped it from going under, but in the asking neighborhood it's in it just not going to be a top notch course. Likewise, their ground manager quit this spring, and they haven't exactly tried since then. Here's hoping they get it together. I'd rate this as a good course to learn to golf, or have a beer with buddies, but it's nothing magical by any means. When the discount is right I'll continue to play, but not until then.
In Great Shape
The crew has certainly done a great job putting the course back together after the difficult past year. Tee boxes are back and the fairways are amazing and the greens are back to rolling like the Augustine greens. I would recommend playing Augustine to anybody who wants to play a course that will challenge you, but won't break your back. We had a very enjoyable round.
What a gem of a course
Great decision to go play Augustine yesterday! The course was in really good shape considering the drought and late in the season. Fun layout and the pace of play was awesome. Bermuda grass was holding up well and the greens had a nice speed to them. One of my favorite courses to play. Will be back soon before winter sets in.
Course Condition
Everyone (staff) was very friendly and professional. For the slow play, the Ranger gave me a discount card for later play. I played this course for the first time back in May of this year. (2019) The course was in great shape. No on alerted me this time about how poor the condition the greens were this time. Maybe I should have called ahead prior to making a tee time on GolfNow.com! When I visit the Augustine area again I will definitely consider playing this course again. Thank you!
Need some TLC
The staff was very friendly from start to finish. I loved the layout and my only complaint is the condition. For the discount I paid with the Golf Now app this course was worth the price. I wouldn't pay the normal green fees given the conditions. Many areas under repair, some greens in very bad condition. It looks as though they are working to improve the course which is good. Hope to see progress in the future.
Augustine September 16
The staff was totally outstanding. Course layout was terrific. Fairways and tee boxes were in good shape. Greens were very tough. Overall a good experience
I would love to play again once the greens get repaired.
What happened to this course?
I used to love this course but it has really gone downhill in the last coup,e of years, hopefully it will get back to the shape it was
