Augustine Golf Club
About
Carved from Stafford County's rolling, emerald green hills, Augustine Golf Club plays across a scenic landscape abundant with mature pines and hardwoods. The pristine white bunkers and the lush fairways contrast nicely with the trees. The course conveniently sits just 30 miles from the Washington Beltway. In 2011 when the golf course was acquired by Raspberry Golf Management, who are responsible for several courses in the area, Augustine underwent major renovations that increased its playability. The greens, fairways, rough, bunkers, and tee boxes were all redone. The layout offers a challenge but is gentle enough for beginners to approach with confidence. Included in a round of golf at Augustine are range balls and unlimited use of the driving range, which has different targets and a large putting green.

Great course
Things were still wet from all the rain but the course was very playable. The damage from this summer’s weather was not as evident here as many other courses. Greens in great shape and fairways in good shape. Some tee boxes are being repaired and there is some damage near the greens and fairways, but it is minimal. There was a beverage cart on the course and good food after the round in the clubhouse. Very accommodating staff. The course layout is wonderful here and that hasn’t changed.
Quality golf course
Tee Boxes and greens still need work like most courses this year with the weather conditions but a great layout. A must play if you get a good price!
Beautiful layout and never boring with very different views. Not a walking course at all with hills all the way throughout but still fun to play!
Coming back around
I played this course a few months ago and complained to the superintendent... it was that bad.
He knew it, which was a good thing, and you can tell they have been at it trying to get it back into shape. I played the tips both times and the first time a lot of the tee boxes were mud, with very little grass. The greens had dead spots, the fairways were beaten up, etc. It was not in good shape.
However, the quality of the conditions improved tremendously when I came back. All of the tee boxes were grass, greens were bumpy but you could tell that was due to play, not poor management. Fairways looked much better as well. This is definitely one of my favorite tracks, with some of the best looking holes out there. If it was given the same amount of funding, this course could definitely compete with Raspberry Falls.
Hit hard by the rains
Augustine is one of my favorite courses in the area but it has been hit hard by the incessant rain. All the teeboxes are rotted out and have had to be replanted. The greens are also not what they were. Only one bunker was playable and the greens were bumpy. Course aside, the weather was awesome and the drinks came round often. I'll wait to hear the course has recovered before coming back.
Rough Conditions
Tee boxes are mostly bare with some scraggly grass. Greens have just been aerated so I would definitely ask for a discount. The fairways are in good shape, but due to the tee boxes and greens I would hold off for a while. Historically this has been a top level course for the money. Better conditions for the money elsewhere In the area.
Mother Nature is tough
Was looking forward to an enjoyable day when I checked in and found out that recently had to reaerate the greens due to all the rain we have had. The staff did give a Two for one pass as compensation which was nice. The greens definitely need another week to be as challenging as they are normally. I look forward to going back in a couple weeks and check th conditions.
Fun day
Had a great time at Augustine, one of my favorite layouts. Course conditions are very much improved from a month ago and the course is playing a lot of fun.
Greens rolled very true, fairways have greened up with the recent heat leaving only a few weak areas on the edges, roughs were generally in good shape.
It is clear that the maintenance crew is working hard to provide good conditions with several projects on going as they recover from the cold winter.
I am looking forward to playing again soon
Disappointing
The course we in very bad shape. The tee boxes and fairways were bare to very little grass. The greens were in average condition.
This course was in great shape in March, but it now looks like a $10 course.
Poor planning.
Our group had an 0803 tee time. Did not know until we showed up that they were having a best ball tourney shotgun start on holes 8-18 starting at 0900.
Of course we caught them on the 9th hole and did a lot of standing around for the next three and a half hours. Courses should not allow tee times early on event days - and it should be noted on Golf Now when you make a tee time.
The course is in far shape with the exception of the tee boxes, which were more dirt than grass.
Still in Rough Shape
Was very disappointed with the condition of the course.
The staff is great, the layout was challenging but fair. Food was also very good - the potato chips were excellent.
All of the tee boxes, the range and some of the fairways and greens have been hit with what appears to be fungus that has wrought some serious damage.
Would love to return when they get it sorted out.
Not Now
Normally a very nice course, but the course is in rough shape right now. Tee boxes are mud, fairways are dirt, greens are aerated. This is typically a very nice course, but give it until June or July to recover.
Major Disappointment
Was looking forward to my round here when I saw it was a Raspberry Trail course and saw the routing on Google Maps.
Staff was top notch from start to finish. Facilities are very nice.
Bad thing was the course itself. In very bad shape. Very little grass in fairways and the green surrounds. Greens rolled nice and smooth despite recent aeration. Tee boxes had no grass and due to recent rain were muddy.
The layout of the course is nice; challenging with nice variety of holes. Lots of uneven lies and pays to play it more than once to know where not to miss.
But despite the bad course conditions the staff was great so will keep an eye on reviews to see if things improve as I would love to play here again but not with current course conditions.
Love Augustine
Great Course! Course is in good shape. Greens are challenging. This course is normally expensive. Golf Now makes it affordable! ;-)
Good time
Very friendly and courteous staffs! Course condition is awesome even during Dec. Challenging course and definitely will come back for more.
Exceeds expectations
Challenging course with a few unexpected hazards due to elevation change. Great fairways, fantastic layout, even better staff. A must play for the Fredericksburg/Stafford area!
Seaview Stay & Play Golf Package
Thank you for visiting Augustine GC. We appreciate the kind words relating to our staff and are sorry the course did not meet expectations. The course is a warm season grass called Bermuda which needs a few more weeks and warmer temperatures to green up. We would love to have you back out in the future. If you wait 2-3 weeks you should have a totally different experience.
