Augustine Golf Club
About
Carved from Stafford County's rolling, emerald green hills, Augustine Golf Club plays across a scenic landscape abundant with mature pines and hardwoods. The pristine white bunkers and the lush fairways contrast nicely with the trees. The course conveniently sits just 30 miles from the Washington Beltway. In 2011 when the golf course was acquired by Raspberry Golf Management, who are responsible for several courses in the area, Augustine underwent major renovations that increased its playability. The greens, fairways, rough, bunkers, and tee boxes were all redone. The layout offers a challenge but is gentle enough for beginners to approach with confidence. Included in a round of golf at Augustine are range balls and unlimited use of the driving range, which has different targets and a large putting green.

Good value
The course was in really good condition considering the storm the night before
Course
The course was very disappointing. The tee boxes need lots of work. Some of the far ways and greens need attention.
One of my favorites
I played this course in the winter and it was tough. I couldn’t wait for summer to come around and really see how hard the course plays. It didn’t disappoint and I will definitely be coming back with friends.
Thank you!
Great Views
Views were great, course set up is challenging yet playable.
With all the growth on greens over the past few months, this course has held up. One of the better kept greens for smooth putting in the area.
If you are debating between courses, go with St. Aug
Golfers Beware
As always the course layout is great but the overall condition of the course is pretty bad. The tee boxes are awful, you might as well play in a sand box, there's more crab grass than grass and you're placing your tee in between crabgrass (not even grass). The fairway isn't any better, there's crabgrass EVERYWHERE and dirt patches. No grass whatsoever. Frustrating when you hit a decent drive only to get to your ball and its wedged in between lumps of crabgrass and dirt.....
The only good part about this course, is their greens (albeit a bit slow) they rolled well and true.
Nice course
Augustine has had maintenance problems in past years. It’s evident they are working to correct them. Greens were very nice, fairways acceptable except in spots, but tee boxes were horrible. I like the course layout. Please focus on fixing the tee boxes and filling in the sparse grass in areas about 100 yards out from the greens.
Improving Conditions
Augustine has recently received some low reviews. However today, I could see vast improvement. The Tees definitely need work; but the condition did not affect play. The greens were in great shape. The fairways will probably be in great shape in a few weeks. It was worth the trip down I-95.
This course has a great layout!
The course layout is very interesting and somewhat challenging; the course condition is good for early in the golf season, and the greens were in good condition and very fast. My one complaint are the condition of many of the Tee-boxes that had very little grass; hopefully, they should be able to fix them sometime soon.
Needs work but still worth playing
Always enjoy playing Augustine because of price and challenging layout. However, definitely needs some TLC. Tee boxes are in need of serious work. This is not the end of the world in the golf world but it is concern. Greens are in nice shape and are very fast. Hopefully the
"Wow" but not a good "Wow"
I have played this course maybe 30 times over the past 10 years and I can honestly say I have never seen it in this condition. The fairways had almost no grass. The tee boxes are horrible. The sand traps weren't much better. If I could rate my experience lower than one full star, I would. Maybe 1/3 of a star. It really was a disappointment for a course that used to be a pleasure to play.
Awful Conditions
I don’t usually write reviews but this course is in awful condition. I’ve played here many times and this is the worse I have every seen. Bare spots everywhere and no grass at all on most tee boxes. I know it is early in the season and most courses are not in great shape in April, I don’t see how it recovers to be even decent anytime soon.
Recovering from winter maybe?!
Course layout is fun and can make for some interesting and challenging decisions at times. When we played the fairways were still mostly dormant. What was green in the fairways was not grass unfortunately. The greens were in good shape and rolled true and fast. Not sure if it’s really worth the 45-50 dollars even on a weekend until it’s shaped up a bit. Also, most all of the few boxes are dirt.
off season
We played in 40-45 degree weather and hardly anyone there so can't rate pace of play. Also winter conditions with dormant grass. That aside with the conditions playing from forward tees worked and the course is a very nice flowing design and a joy to play.
Lots of Potential, needs some work
Fantastic layout, interesting holes, good mix of lengths and level of difficulty. Could be a best in the state with some work on the washed out bunkers and thin and patchy grass in fairways. I know the area received alot of rain this season, maybe next year Mother Nature will be more kind. I still had a good time and would consider another round here.
Worth the Drive
Living in Arlington, I try to avoid driving up/down 95 for most of the rounds that I play but Augustine is one of the few that I will brave the traffic for. The staff, course layout, pace of play and conditions make a perfect combination for me to make the trip worthwhile to pay their very reasonable greens fees. If you're from the NorthernVA/DC area, I highly recommend adding Augustine into the mix of courses to play.
Augustine
This course commands your attention from hole 1 with its split fairway. Shot placement is crucial. High altitude tee offs are challenging.. The course is in excellent condition. The staff is very courteous, and helpful. I live 1 hour 45 minutes away in Waldorf MD. The trip was worth it. I will play her again and again!
