Augustine Golf Club
About
Carved from Stafford County's rolling, emerald green hills, Augustine Golf Club plays across a scenic landscape abundant with mature pines and hardwoods. The pristine white bunkers and the lush fairways contrast nicely with the trees. The course conveniently sits just 30 miles from the Washington Beltway. In 2011 when the golf course was acquired by Raspberry Golf Management, who are responsible for several courses in the area, Augustine underwent major renovations that increased its playability. The greens, fairways, rough, bunkers, and tee boxes were all redone. The layout offers a challenge but is gentle enough for beginners to approach with confidence. Included in a round of golf at Augustine are range balls and unlimited use of the driving range, which has different targets and a large putting green.

Daboys
The course was great, layout , greens was outstanding , first time playing course would be coming back in the future
Great layout
This course has a great layout. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The course had some rough spots on the greens, though still very playable. The practice green was a real mess. The front nine played within an acceptable pace. The back nine really got backed up and turned into a grind. No player assistants in sight!
Awsome course !
Me and my wife was on our way home from Virginia Beach and was 2 hrs from home and want3d to play a round before it got dark and found this gem of a course called Augustin Golf Club. Great place to play and the staff was very friendly. I would recommend this course to anyone and if I were a local, I'd probably be a regular at this track!
Tough Course
If you don't like hitting your driver, this course is for you. PAR 5 that can only have a 225 yard tee shot, front 9 you need your driver for 2 holes. Layout isn't very good. Only positive is you get to hit more of the clubs in your bag.
Great value, great layout
I've occasionally been playing here for the past several years and it has made great strides over the past year. The course is in great shape overall, and the greens are the best I've ever seen them. It's clear that management has really put an emphasis and commitment to provide a quality track. Well worth your time
A Nice Challenging Golf Course
Augustine always brings a fun challenge with its long, hilly and doglegged holes. The fairways and greens were cut a little high to enhance Course growth conditions but it was since fun to play.
Great improvement
Played this course regularly 10-20 years ago and it was great. Was sold and fell apart. No sand in any bunkers crabgrass all over tee boxes and greens.Quit playing there at all. Rasberry falls management bought it 5 years ago, closed it for awhile and I played once after it was reopened but it was still pretty bad. Told it was really improved so convinced 3 guys I used play with at Augustine to give it a try. We were all very impressed with the remarkable recovery the course has made. Tee boxes and fairways were excellent and the greens were good with the usual wear and tear you'd expect at the end of a summer of golf. Staff from check in to starter and marshal couldn't have been more cordial, no attitude or indifference you occasionally find at other courses. Augustine is back in a big way and all 4 of us would highly recommend it. We range from 5-22 handicaps
A Positive Experience
TEN STARS.
My 2017 family reunion was in Dale City, Virginia. (Every year, family members drive or fly in from several cities to meet in the host city for the reunion.) My cousins, brother, his wife and I like to play golf. We chose Augustine for our outing. We spent quality family time together. We had a great time despite the rain and wind. The night before, there was a downpour in Dale City, and we were not sure we'd be able to play. However, Augustine was open and ready for business at 6:55 a.m. The course was lovely. The staff was helpful and accommodating in every way. I have kept Augustine in my records anticipating a future return visit. A tremendous thank you to the Augustine Staff.
Awesome track. Great staff
Raspberry management has done a wonderful job bringing the course back to the very high quality course it was when it first opened - perhaps even better. Some work remains in certain areas but it is a great layout, and the fairways, bunkers, and greens are in really good shape. The staff is great and the marshals do a very good job of ensuring the pace of play.
Best in the area
Played early afternoon on a Thursday and got a great rate. Was able to get right on with a good buddy from Richmond. Course is in great shape despite typical NOVA heat and minimal rain for July/August. The new management has Augustine getting back to its late 90's condition which was absolutely superb. Better be on your A game at the beginning of the round as hole #1 and #2 are a great challenge. Greens are true and fair. Everything about this course is top notch. My buddy from Richmond (private course member) wants to play Augustine again next week. I am trying to get a group of guys to play. They won't be disappointed.
Very good play
Very much enjoyed my first round at Augustine and will play there again.
Won't play again.
It's almost as if they spent all their money trying to design a premier course for the area and forgot they needed to maintain it. Layout isn't terrible, but it is repetitive and unimaginative. Fairways, rough, greens, bunkers are awful.
Fairways- 1/2 grass 1/2 dirt. This creates a perpetually awful lie even if you're in the fairway. Many fairways had a lot of bare spots to include the 2nd, their "signature hole". It looked like a flood had ripped through and washed a once great hole away.
Greens- never recovered from being airated, still full of holes. Greens hadn't been cut/rolled in a while and it seemed routine to not repair ball marks.
Rough- sometimes better than the fairway. A lot of bare spots with hard dirt/rocks.
Bunkers- Usually the first thing to go when a course is going downhill. They appeared nice. However once you're in them you'll see they only have enough sand to look nice( a mm or two). Beneath that is hard clay making normal bunker shots nearly impossible. It's akin to hitting off of the cart path.
Range- don't bother paying for range balls. 1/2 were cut so bad they wouldn't fly true. Other half barely had dimples.
Overall impression- Course needs new management/funding and overhaul on grounds keeping. I felt as if I played the same holes over and over again, all but one par 5 is a dogleg left that you have to layup because a creek cuts the fairway forcing you to use less than a driver. Majority of the par 4's have a hazard in front of the green and a downhill 2nd shot. 2 200 yard par 3's and 2 120 yard par 3's.
Save you're money and go to Potomac Shores.
Good day on the links
Augustine's is an excellent track. Unfortunately, they are taking down a large number of tress; for some reason that is not obvious.
It has left a number of holes with unfinished grounds, visible debris and honestly messy.
I am sure they will fix it up over the summer; one would hope
Tough course, good value
I play here once or twice every year - love the challenging layout (from blue, ~6400).
The fairway conditions are generally good, though there are a few spots where the rain has taken a toll and the course could be more proactive in protecting and rehabbing these soggy areas, and perhaps the grass has not really taken off and filled in entirely due to the early season wetness.
The greens roll very true, but again I feel that some more proactive maintenance could be taken to rehab the few (i.e., left side of green on hole 5) struggling areas.
A true knock would be the sup-bar condition of some of the bunkers, which need more sand and better drainage - there is no reason for the protective skirt underneath to ever be exposed, which did occur.
For the price, this is still a great course in an expensive area, and would be totally worth the drive in the I-95 congestion if there was more effort to shore up the maintenance details.
Great day at Augustine
I play Augustine fairly regularly and always enjoy the layout and variety of holes. While conditions have suffered a bit over the last year, today was near perfect! The bermuda grass fairways were greening up nicely (should be perfect in a couple of weeks!) and the greens were outstanding! The staff has clearly had a very busy off season getting the course ready for a great golf season.
I cannot wait to play again!
My favorite course in the area
Great course. Every once in a while you catch a day they are doing heavy maintenance, but overall exceptional.
Need to mention only back 9 in play
The course only had the back 9 open however; they never mention that when I booked through golfnow. The course is in pretty rough shape the fairways greens etc need a lot of work.
I hope they get working on this course it will be spring before you know it.
Greens are bumpy and fairways are thin.
Augustine has a great layout and good mix of easy and challenging holes. However, the greens have not recovered from last years disaster and the fairways are terribly thin even for winter condition. Also, the bunkers are thin and many of them are washed out.
February golf
Beautiful day in February and the course was pretty open. They are doing a lot of necessary tree and brush removal which was nice to see and will make the course quicker to play and more user friendly. The couse was good for the time of year except for the greens which were oretty beatup and worn, virtually unputtable; but that was ok bcs it was February.
I guess my concern would be what is your definition of unputtable? I have been a big fan on Augustine getting back to some where near the grandeur it once was, but the issues with their greens over the past few years is worrisome to say the least. No making up for bad greens, you can play winter rules in the fairways, but no way around a poor green. Thanks for the update on the rest of the course, one weekend soon I will need to stop in and give it a try to see where they are at.
Seaview Stay & Play Golf Package
Great to hear they are getting back to their former great conditions. Great track, it was sad to see it fall apart for a bit. So true about holes 1 and 2, if you are not ready to go right out of the chute you could be in trouble on the scorecard after 25 minutes of golf.
