Augustine Golf Club
About
Carved from Stafford County's rolling, emerald green hills, Augustine Golf Club plays across a scenic landscape abundant with mature pines and hardwoods. The pristine white bunkers and the lush fairways contrast nicely with the trees. The course conveniently sits just 30 miles from the Washington Beltway. In 2011 when the golf course was acquired by Raspberry Golf Management, who are responsible for several courses in the area, Augustine underwent major renovations that increased its playability. The greens, fairways, rough, bunkers, and tee boxes were all redone. The layout offers a challenge but is gentle enough for beginners to approach with confidence. Included in a round of golf at Augustine are range balls and unlimited use of the driving range, which has different targets and a large putting green.

A Day In The Sun
I like this course, although it is about 1 1/2 hours to eternity from my house. Yesterday it was clear sailing so I arrived earlier. I was paired with 3 others and got my own cart -- which is highly desirable. The course was in fabulous conditions, the fairways were lush and the greens were impeccable. Some of the pin positions were placed my a masochist though. Play was slow, but steady and it took us 5 hours to complete 18
Good Course- Great Value
We had a 3-some and they added another player who partner with us was wonderful. The starter was very friendly and overall a nice person. The course is challenging (18.6 index), the fairways were in good to above average shape, the greens were in great shape and most of the bunkers were in good shape. Great price with a cart and a course I will play again. Tee Up and Play. Thank you.
worth the trip
You never know what to expect heading south on 95 at anytime of the day. Traffic is constant. Once you arrive at this course there is a reward. Quiet golf round with challenging opportunities for an enjoying day. The course is well maintained and offers great golf to all levels of play. Flag locations on the greens can offer difficult putts. Don't over read the breaks. Some blind tee shots make it wiser to leave the driver in the bag. Play to your distance for optimal approach shots.
has very good sand traps and hills, etc
We enjoyed our round of golf. Had a great time. will play again soon.
Mr
Great golf course. Can't say enough about staff service and friendliness
Played on a Sunday and of course it got backed up
Still great place
Good course but terrible pace of play
As the title says I like the course but the pace of play was horrible!!!! When you have to wait almost every shot there is something wrong and didn't see one Marshal all day. One of the staff members was kind enough to come by and give us 2-for-1 passes on future visits but I don't know how quick I'll be to come back to wait.
Excellent Price
Great Golf Now green fee discount . Be careful of high school and college golf team practice dates/times. We got behind high school practice, which slowed pace of play.
Augustine
Great deal on GolfNow. Pace of play suffered from crowd of players. Greens were pretty rough-people not fixing ball marks and dragging feet. Otherwise beautiful course and good shape.
Great Layout
And friend and I booked teetimes on line and only discovered shortly before that it was club championship day. More than 230 golfers had been on the course when we teed off at 4/00 pm. The pace of play was dreadfully slow and the greens showed the wear of 230+ golfers. However, the course is a wonderful layout. Lots of ups and downs and plenty of binkers and trouble aress. Due to the Club Champioship the pins were in really difficut areas. I'll play it again someday other than a Sunday and hope to bring my A game
Don't like getting screwed!!
I booked on golf now for 59.00. When we got there (hour drive) they gave walk ups a 49.00 dollar tee time. I told the guy I wanted the same rate as the walk ups . He refused to give me the better price. I will never play at that course again! Bad customer service and starting to rethink golf now deals. Has this happened before and I just didn't know it? Can I do better on my own? Is golf now in cahoots with the golf clubs? Rethinking
Course is back!
Until recently this course had gone to "pot" for a number of years. Now that it is under Raspberry management, it is now in very good (not excellent) playing condition. The fairways have bermuda grass which promotes good lies. The greens hold well, have fair contours and putt well. The $39 rate I paid was a good value. Pace of play on back nine was slow.
Wrong part of the Green
Excellent shape, fairways were a little firm but overall best shape this course has been in since the remodel. Don't miss your approach to far from the pins quite difficult undulated greens.
Dissapointed
Greens very bumpy, lots n lots of diviot marks, pin placements could have avoided these areas., Sand traps almost unplayable, hard as concrete, couldnt get a club under ball at all. Everything else was amazing. Only saw Beverage cart 1 time in 18 holes, but staff was great.
Amazing Round
No, I didn't score well. Augustine was a great value! We arrived early and the staff was super friendly. The course and pace of pulse was perfect. After the round we had lunch in the clubhouse and the Rubeun was amazing! I will be coming back! It was a great day.
Attention needed
Hot day in the 90's. Water coolers had day old water and the water was warm and dribbled out...didn't taste good and definitely not very healthy. The least on a hot day, coolers should have been replenished with ice and fresh water. Told staff after round, didn't seem too concerned. Could have offered us a cold water! Bunkers were in terrible condition. Probably won't return.
Augustine
Course was in good shape. Slow play. Took 5 hours to complete the round. Beverage cart showed up only once and that was not until the back nine.
A Memorable Round of Golf!
We thoroughly this course from start to finish. We were held up in traffic and phoned to say we would miss our tee time. The Pro Shop Staff and Starter were very understanding and fitted us in. The tee boxes, fairways and greens were in very good condition and the rough was not too penal. The Course Marshal was in evidence and encouraged the groups in front of us to speed up. The round of golf took 4 hours 15 minutes. The food and beverage cart lady stopped 4 times for us during our round to offer us refreshment.
It is a very attractive course, very well maintained and all the Staff were first class. A most memorable visit, thank you.
Unforgiving OB's
First I'd like to comment on how great the condition of the course was for it being the end of July. No burnout, the greens were smooth and roughs cut a reasonable length. The staff was friendly and we had a great time and round.
My only two complaints were the amount of foliage once you hit OB. If your ball goes even an inch past the rough you can kiss it goodbye. There is no chance of finding it in the Augustine Jungle. I also bought a 6 pack beer special and realized after 5 holes that I was only given 5 beers.
Other then that, this was an extremely nice course and I can't wait to play it again.
Nice course, some maintenance needed
It was too hot to play well - heat index was 110 degrees - hottest day of the year. Because of the heat, not many golfers were playing at my Sunday 2pm tee time so I can't tell you what the pace would be in cooler temps. The fairways, greens and tees were well maintained. Green were very fast. The cart paths were rough in a lot of places and need to be repaved. Shower available in a nice clubhouse. Staff very friendly and helpful.
May be the best value in the DMV
When you are able to get a good price at Augustine (say, $50 or less for a weekend round before noon) then you are probably experiencing the best value in the entire DMV region.
This course is just slightly below Potomac Shores and Westfields, etc. as far as layout and conditions. But only slightly. I'd say it's probably a little better than PB Dye in both areas.
During our round we found this bermuda grass course to be in as good of shape as I've ever seen it. And it's definitely in better shape than 90% of the courses in the region (and trust me, there aren't many I haven't played.)
The course is quite challenging from the blue tees - if you're not driving it >250 yds and keeping it relatively straight, you definitely need to move up a set of tees.
Whether to go for a tough/long shot, or where to miss - you can pretty much see your options on every hole. There are very few blind shots here. You have to use your noggin just as much as you have to make good swings. Greens ran pretty well, although they were getting beat up a bit. People, fix your ball marks, and pick up your darn feet when you're walking on the green! (The staff could also stand to remind players about replacing/filling divots, and repairing ball marks.)
Pace of play was... meh. Not great, but not terrible either. The rangers looked like they were being proactive around the course, but it didn't seem to improve things much. We finished just a bit under 5 hours.
The staff (clubhouse and on-course) were friendly and professional. One complaint: they have a service window for players making the turn and it was closed at 10:30 am on a Saturday; what's up with that?
Anyway, a few minor criticisms, but again this course is such an outstanding value that a few issues can certainly be overlooked.
(Oh yeah, this course would be a 1,000% better if I-95 and its moronic express lanes weren't the embarrassment of the entire federal highway system - 45 minutes to get there from DC and then 1hr 30 min on the way back.)
